Press Release Submitted by StanM on 10/12/2010 at 8:58 PM Send To Friend | Report Press Release

10/12/10 – With the IRA season in the books, Bill Balog & the B Squared Motorsports team headed to the Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, IN to race with the Allstar Sprint Series.

This was Bill & the teams first time at the ultra modern facility & out of the 25 cars present, he turned the 6th fastest time of the night with a lap time of 12.092 seconds. He would take to the track in heat race #3 from 5th position. After falling to the 6th position at the start, Bill quickly got his rhythm around the high banked oval & by the time the checkered flag waved on lap 8, he had worked his way up to the 4th position.

By virtue of his 6th place time in qualifying, Bill got to pick a chip for his starting position for the 30 lap main event & ended up picking the #1 chip, which meant he would take the green flag from position #1. Once the race got under way, Bill fell back to the 2nd place, & got work on tracking down the leader. Once the lead pack got in to lapped traffic, Bill began to close in on leader & would eventually take lead over. He began to open up a sizable lead on the rest of the field before a caution would bunch everyone back up. With one lapped car between Bill & 2nd place, Bill jumped out the lead once again before another caution a few laps later put 2nd place right on the tail of the17B machine. On the ensuing restart, the 2nd place car executed a huge slide job in turns 1&2 putting Bill back to 2nd place. He would continue to run here until another caution flag on lap 17 & then 3rd place car would get past him on that restart. Bill would continue to run in the 3rd spot for the remainder of the race to bring home a career best finish with the Allstar Sprints. But after the officials deemed that Bill did not follow there post race procedures properly, they disqualified him & placed him in the 25th position.

The TW Metals / Allstar Performance 17B team will take the next few weeks off before returning to action November 4th-6th at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC for the World of Outlaws World Finals.
