10/6/10 – Bill Balog & the B Squared Motorsports team headed in to the IRA season finale at the Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway on Saturday, October 2^nd with the 2010 Championship already locked up, but the team wasn’t ready to celebrate with out trying for one more win.

The night started with Bill turning in a lap of 16.654 seconds on the big half mile track, which was quick enough to earn the 3^rd quickest time of the night. By virtue of the qualifying time, he would then start 6^th in the 3^rd & final heat race of the night. Once the race was under way, he began to pick off the competition as he was working his way to the front. By the time the checkered flag flew in the 8 lap event, he had worked his all the way up to 2^nd, which was good enough to earn him a spot in the 25 lap feature.

With all the preliminary events complete, it was time for the feature event, & with a 4 pill drawn for the inversion, Bill would pilot the 17B from the 7^th position. After having 2 unsuccessful starts to begin the race, Bill got a lucky break & was moved up a row to the 5^th position after one of the front starting cars had to go to the pits. On the 3^rd & final start, Bill got a great start as he drove from 5^th to 2^nd in the first turn & began to work on the race leader. Once the lead duo got to lapped traffic, Bill quickly made his move & took the race lead. As the race wore on, he quickly began to open up a sizable lead on the competition until a red flag came out with 5 laps remaining. With the field right on his tail on the restart, Bill proved he had the car to beat, as he opened up a straight away lead on second place by the time the checkered flag came out 5 laps later. The win is Bill’s 8^th of 2010 & 15^th of his IRA career. It was also his 23^rd consecutive top 5 IRA feature finish. The win also put an exclamation point on the teams 3^rd Consecutive IRA Championship season.

This weekend the Hoeft Builders / Astro Titanium 17B team will travel to the Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, IN to compete with the All Star Sprints on Saturday, October 9^th.
