HARTFORD, Ohio (August 28, 2010) - Race fans at Sharon Speedway on Saturday were treated to a night packed full of race action, a beautiful evening and the conclusion of hard-fought points series.
The evening included FASTRAK Late Models and the final night of points racing for the Governor Insurance Inc. Big Blocks, E-Mods, Limited Sprints, Hobby Stocks and Pro Stocks. Jack Sodeman Jr. had previously been named the Gibson Insurance 410 Sprint Champion.
Robbie Blair was the initial leader of the 25-lap FASTRAK Late Model feature. A restart on the second lap put father and son, Robbie and Max Blair, at one-and-two. Jason Genco ran third, followed by Dan Hill in fourth and Joe Martin - who won earlier this season at Sharon Speedway - in fifth. David Airgood ran sixth with a sizable gap between he and Bill Cunningham in seventh.
While the Blairs stayed out front - Max first, Robbie second - Hill passed Genco the 16th lap for the third position, but Hill was looking to the inside as Airgood stayed close. A caution came out on the last lap for Gary Knollinger and Martin, setting up a one-lap dash to the end. Coming across the line, it was Max Blair, followed by his father, Robbie Blair, in second, Genco in third, Hill fourth and Airgood fifth. FASTRAK heat winners were Cunningham, Bill Henry and Max Blair.
Alan Dellinger (Hermitage, Pa.) was the points leader in Pro Stocks at Sharon Speedway after seven Pro Stock feature wins and just needed to start the feature event to take the title. Dellinger did start, and started 21st in the field as a result of winning four consecutive feature wins.
Up for the challenge, Dellinger moved up five positions on the first lap. Bruce Redman was in the lead, with Jamie Duncan to his outside. With five laps in, Duncan spun in turn four and collected a number of other cars. James Flaherty had been trailing Duncan by several car-lengths, but moved into second with Duncan's spin.
By the fourth lap, Dellinger moved into second. Jamie Duncan ran third and Michael Aley, Brian Carothers and James Flaherty battling for fourth place. On lap 10, Dellinger was able to get past Redman and set up sizable lead, to record his fifth Pro Stock feature in a row and eighth Pro Stock feature win this season. Redman finished second, Scharba third, Aley fourth and Carothers fifth.
Pro Stock heat winners were Dellinger and Jamie Duncan.

The four were able to stay on the lead lap, but in the back of the pack. Bolland, third in the point chase, stayed out front as Jim Weller Jr. looked to the inside, followed by Rob Kristyak. Dean Pearson and and Brad Rapp battled for fifth place.
Rob Kristyak took second from Weller on the 14th lap. Bolland stayed out front, with Kristyak in second, Weller driving in third, as Pearson, Rapp, Moore, Rougeux and King Sr. ran in a right pack. Kineston was able to pass Scharba on the sixth lap, as Scharba looked to the inside of Lucas Sprouse, making the pass on lap seven. The points battle got real on lap nine, as Scharba was on the bumper of Fuchs.
A restart from a caution on lap 10 set up a chance for Scharba (Masury, Ohio) to make his way around Fuchs to finish second and become the 2010 Sharon Speedway Hobby Stock Point Champion, with five feature wins and 10 top 10 finishes.
"Bill's a great guy. He's one of those guys you can you can run door-to-door with and not have to worry about him, and he's not going to worry about you," Scharba said after the race.
