Bill Balog & B Squared Motorsports: Winners Circle

8/10/10 – It was back to Beaver Dam Raceway this past Saturday for B Squared Motorsports & driver Bill Balog. 31 IRA sprinters were in the pits & ready for action. Bill started the night off by turning a lap of 12.519 seconds in qualifying which was fast enough for 5^th place. By virtue of the qualifying time, Bill would take the green flag from 5^th place in heat race #2. He would need a top 5 finish in order to transfer straight to the feature race. After battling through out the 10 laps, Bill would bring home the 5^th place finish. For the 30 lap feature, Bill would take the green flag from 8^th place. After doing some last minute tuning to the car, the team was set for the race to begin. At the drop of the green, Bill started to methodically work his way towards the front. By the time 10 laps were in the books, he was solidly in the top 2. A caution would give Bill the break he was looking for, as now he was right on the tail of the leader. After going back to green, Bill had to wait until lapped traffic to make his move on the leader, just as he was getting ready to make his move for 1^st, the race leader tangled with a lapped car, which would turn the lead over to Bill with 16 laps remaining. After the restart, Bill would set a blistering pace & go unchallenged the rest of the way to collect his 3^rd feature win of the year & 10^th career IRA win. The win also kept in tact the teams run of top 5 finishes which is now at 14 straight IRA events. The team also holds a 66 point lead in the IRA standings with 10 events remaining. This weekend the Weld Racing / Rod End Supply 17B will tentatively be in action at the Wilmot Raceway, in Wilmot, WI on Saturday for a local 410 show.
