Bill Balog & B Squared Motorsports: “Two Races, Two More Top 5 Finishes”
Press Release Submitted by StanM on 07/01/2010 at 5:56 AM Send To Friend | Report Press Release

6/30/10 – This past weekend, Bill Balog & the B Squared Motorsports team competed at two different tracks in two states. First up was the Kankakee County Speedway in Kankakee, IL. There were 25 sprint cars on hand for the Friday show, Bill ended up turning the 10th quickest lap in qualifying, which lined him up in the 3rd position for the start of heat #1. Once the green flag flew, Bill began working on the 2 cars in front of him & by the midway point of the race, he had taken the lead. He would go on to collect his 3rd heat race win of the year. For the feature event, he would once again take the green flag from position #3. Bill quickly moved in to 2nd at the start & began putting pressure on the race leader, after battling for a few laps, he moved in to the lead for the better part of half the race. As the race went on, the handling on the 17B machine began to slip away, & by the time the checkered flag flew, he fell back to 2nd place. The second night of the weekend took place at the Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, WI. 33 cars were on hand for the event; Bill turned a lap of 11.551 seconds which was good enough for 3rd quick. As a result of being 3rd quick, he had to start 6th in heat race #3. As the race began, Bill wasted little time working his way forward & by the midway point, he had taken the lead. Bill wouldn’t falter over the last remaining laps & would go on to collect his 4th heat race win of the year & 3rd in a row. He took the green flag in the 30 lap feature from position #6 & felt very confident going in to the race. As the race began, Bill was just biding his time & trying to let the surrounding cars sort things out. Just as he was beginning to work his way toward the front, the race took a turn for the worse, as cars who were trying to win the race on lap 3 got together exiting turn 2 & collected the 17B in the process. After making a trip to the work area, the team realized the LR birdcage was broken. So with help coming from the 1HRP, 2B, & 68 teams, the necessary repairs were made & Bill rejoined the field at the tail. From that point on, many eyes were on Bill as he was slicing & dicing his way through traffic on his way back towards the front. With the white flag flying, Bill was sitting in the 4th spot, but to not be denied, Bill grabbed the 3rd spot coming out of turn 4 on the last lap. After a dismal start to the race, the night ended with a solid 3rd place finish. The team would like to thank the Hepfner 1HRP, Bear Motorsports 2B, Uttech 68, & anybody else who we missed for all there help in getting the car repaired in time to rejoin the race. This coming weekend, you can catch the B Squared Motorsports entry in action at the Dodge Count Fairgrounds in Beaver Dam, WI on Friday July 2nd & then the Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, WI on Saturday July 3rd.
