6/23/10 – After three consecutive rain outs, Bill Balog
& the B Squared Motorsports team were ready for 2 nights of action this
past weekend at the Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, WI for the annual
“Masters” weekend.
With no qualifying
used at this event for the sprint cars, the luck of the draw would determine
the starting line up for the heats. After all was said & done, Bill lined
up 6th in heat race #2.At
the start of the race, he fell back a few spots but quickly made the necessary
adjustments & started moving forward. By the end of the 10 laps, he managed
to move up to the 4th position. With the luck of the draw on Bill’s
side, he started the 25 lap feature from the pole position. After battling with
the 4B car for the 1st lap, Bill settled in to 2nd place,
where he would ride out much of the race before being passed by one more car to
fall to 3rd in the running order. At the end of the 25 laps, 3rd
is where he would bring home the Gaerte Engines / Plank Enterprises 17B after
the track began to take rubber.
Night #2 on the
weekend was right back at Cedar Lake; once again no qualifying was used for the
sprint cars. With the luck of the draw still on the team’s side, Bill drew the
outside front row starting spot for heat race #1. The green flag flew &
Bill quickly moved to the lead & went the rest of the 10 laps uncontested
to pick up his 2nd heat race win of the year. The feature was set to
be 30 laps & the 17B machine was set to start from the 6th
position. The green flag flew & Bill once again was trying to work his way
to the front. After doing some line searches on the track, he found his rhythm
& began to work on the cars in front of him. By the end of the 30 laps, he
managed to work his way up to the 5th place to bring home another
solid finish.
This coming weekend,
you can catch the B Squared Motorsports entry in action at the Kankakee (IL)
County Speedway on Friday June 25th & then the Plymouth (WI)
Dirt Track on Saturday June 26th.
