Bill Balog & B Squared Motorsports: “Memorial Day Weekend Triple Header”
Press Release Submitted by StanM on 06/04/2010 at 5:51 AM Send To Friend | Report Press Release

6/3/10 – Over the course of the long Memorial Day weekend, Bill Balog piloted his B Squared Motorsports #17B entry at 3 different tracks in 2 states over the course of 3 days.

First up was the ultra fast Hartford Motor Speedway in Hartford, MI. The night started with Bill turning the 6th fastest time in qualifying, which would place the 17B in position #5 in heat race #3. In a rather uneventful 8 lap race, Bill managed to gain a few spots to bring home a 3rd place finish, which locked him into the feature event. Bill started the 25 lap main event from position #10, and from the drop of the green, he quickly began moving his way forward. With a few caution flags to assist him in his quest towards the front, Bill managed to bring home a solid 4th place finish to start the weekend. He also passed the most cars in the feature to pick up the HRP Hard Charger Award for the 2nd straight feature.

Night 2 took place at the Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, WI; Bill began the night by turning the 14th fastest time out of the 36 cars present. With the result of the qualifying time, Bill started from position #3 in heat race number 2. He quickly began picking his way through traffic at the drop of the green flag & by the end of the 10 laps; he would bring home a 1st place finish. Up next was the 30 lap feature & the BLZ / Weld Racing #17B would start from the 10th spot for the 2nd night in a row. After battling his way into the top 5, Bill still wanted more & he raced his way all the way up to 3rd at one point in the race. A late race yellow bunched the field back up & gave Bill his last chance to go for the win. He gave it all he had but couldn’t make it happen & in the process coming to the checkered, he would slip one more spot to finish in 4th for the second straight night.

The 3rd and final night took place at the “New” 141 Speedway in Maribel, WI.31 cars were present for the first ever sprint car show at Wisconsin’s newest dirt track, & Bill timed in with the 4th quickest time of the night. He started 6th in heat race number 4 & needed a top 4 finish to transfer to the feature. From the drop of the green, Bill worked his way in to the top 4 & by the end of the 10 laps, he was up to 2nd. The 30 lap feature was next on the agenda & the Super Shox / XYZ Machining #17B started from the pole position. The race got off to a couple rocky starts before they could get any green flag laps complete, but once they got going Bill quickly jumped out to the lead. Sometime during the race, something had put a hole in the right rear tire, which affected the handling of the car. Bill managed to hold on to the car & bring home 2nd place finish.

This week the team will be back in action at the Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, WI on Saturday June 5th.
