5/26/10 – After a week off of racing, Bill Balog & the B
Squared Motorsports team were back in action this past weekend at the Rice Lake
Speedway in Rice Lake, WI. Bill started the night off by turning the 5th
quickest time in Osborn & Son Trucking Qualifications.
With only 23 cars in
attendance at the event, all the cars were locked in the feature. A top 5
finish in the heat would guarantee a starting spot inside the top 15 in the
feature. Bill took the green flag in heat #2 from position 5 & at the drop
of the green the 2 cars in front of him came together & collected the 17B
in to there mess. After making contact & spinning, Bill thought the car was
good to run. So he restarted at the tail & after a few circuits around the
track, he realized something was not right in the front end of the car. He
pulled off the track, which resulted in a DNF & a 7th place
finish.
Once the race was over, the crew quickly went to work and
they discovered the front radius rods & axle were bent, so they changed the
front end on the HRP / Allstar Performance 17B & were set for the 30 lap
feature.
With a 16th
starting spot, Bill knew he had his work cut out for him. Once the green flag
waved, he wasted little time in moving towards the front. By the time the first
yellow flag had waved on 14, Bill had already moved up 10 spots to the 6th
position. On the ensuing restart, he picked off a few more spots & even
battled for the 2ndspot for a majority of the last 10 laps, but at
the end, he would settle for a solid 3rd place finish in front of
the home town crowd.
This coming weekend,
the B Squared Motorsports entry will be in action at 3 venues in 2 states over
3 days, starting at the Hartford Motor Speedway in Hartford, MI on Friday, then
it’s off to Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, WI on Saturday & the weekend wraps up
on Sunday at the 141 Speedwayin
