5/5/10 – Reigning IRA Champ, Bill Balog & his B Squared
Motorsports team were in action this past Saturday at the Beaver Dam Raceway
for the Annual “Dual at the Dam”. The night didn’t start off as expected when
the 69 pill out of 70 available was drawn for the qualifying order. The team
made the proper adjustments to the car after hot laps & Bill ended up
turning the 7th fastest time out of the 38 cars present.
With the 7th
quick time of the night, the Hoeft Builders 17B lined up 5th in heat
race #3. A top 4 finish was needed to secure a starting position in the nights
30 lap feature. At the drop of the green, Bill quickly began to work for that 4th
spot, & by the mid way point he had raced in to that all important
position. He would hold on to the spot & transfer to the feature.
After the invert
pill was drawn for the feature, Bill lined the 17B up in the 5th
position. The crew made a few last minute adjustments to the car prior to
pushing the feature off, all in hopes of freeing the car up some to adapt to
the ever changing track. Once the race began, Bill had his hands full as the
adjustments were still not enough & the car was way too tight. He held on
for the duration of the 30 laps & brought home a 7th position.
Although the results weren’t all that great, the team feels they are making
some ground on getting the Wolf Weld Chassis figured out.
This week the team
makes there first out of state trip of the year to the Clay County Speedway in
Spencer, IA on Friday & then to the Knoxville Raceway on Saturday.
