The Upper Midwest Sprintcar
Series (UMSS) is pleased to announce the addition of BP Trading Company
as an additional sponsor of the 2010 UMSS Rookie of the Year Award. In
addition to the previously announced $700 first place bonus award to the
leading UMSS rookie being provided by GRP Motorsports, Brian Madsen's
BP Trading Company will be kicking in an additional $300 for the second
highest finishing rookie.
The award will be known as the GRP
Motorsports/BP Trading Company Rookie of the Year Award. The first and
second place bonus awards will be based on the top rookie drivers' best
15 point shows during the 24-race UMSS 2010 schedule. Brian Madsen has
been involved with the sport of auto racing for many years. Stated
Madsen, "I guess that I've been around the sprint car racing deal in
promoting, owning, driving, and head of sanctioning for way too many
years, and I'm not getting any younger. We need to get fresh blood into
the sprints, so that is one of the reasons I have selected to add some
additional sponsorship support to the 2010 UMSS Rookie of the Year
Award."
Six rookie drivers have indicated they will be racing
with the UMSS in 2010. Charly Cropp, Ronnie Erickson, Jared Gorges, Andy
Jones, Anna Kouba, and Mark Yetter will all be competing for the 2010
GRP Motorsports/BP Trading Company Rookie of the Year bonus money. With
one UMSS race already in the books for 2010, Andy Jones turned in a
rookie-best seventh place finish on opening night.
