Simpson Racing Duo Debuts at Petaluma
The Father-Daughter sprint car team of Dan and Danielle Simpson made their debut at the super fast Petaluma Speedway last Saturday night. Dan made his first appearance in 2010 and Danielle her fourth ever start in a 410 sprint.
With the track very sloppy for qualifying, the Simpson drivers went out to qualify 2
nd and 3
rd in the order. Dan managed to qualify 16
th with Danielle a tick behind in 17
th.. Both drivers finished 6
th in their respective heats and got ready for the 30 lap main event.
The two DES, Inc. Racing sprinters lined up 16
th and 17
th for the start of the main event and at the drop of the green flag chaos broke out in the front of the field. On the start, the fifth row got together coming down for the green flag, leaving a car sideways on the front stretch and a multiple car accident ensued with both Dan and Danielle caught up in the malay.
After what seemed like a night long crash-fest, the two emerged with a 11
th place finish for Danielle and 12
th place finish for Dan. The Cars rolled back in the trailer with just top wing damage to both cars. Danielle's 11
th place finish moves the young rookie to 14
th in the year long Golden State Challenge Series point's race.
The 6up team of Danielle Simpson will be ready for this Friday's race at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA with the 4s of Dan Simpson joining the team for round five of the Golden State Series at Ocean Speedway, in Watsonville, CA Saturday night.
