World of Outlaws At a Glance: Gold Cup Race of Champions

WHAT
• The Gold Rush Tour wraps up for the World of Outlaws at Silver Dollar Speedway with the 54th Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions, September 6-8, which will again pay $50,000 to the winner this season. Daryn Pittman earned his first win in the famed event last season, leading all 40 laps on the ¼-mile, holding off a hard charging Jac Haudenschild. Steve Kinser, will look for his record 13th win in the event. He won in his last visit to Silver Dollar Speedway in 2005. Other former winners of the event that will be in attendance include: reigning World of Outlaws champion Donny Schatz, 2001 series titlist Danny Lasoski, as well as Haudenschild. Three-time World of Outlaws champion Sammy Swindell will also return for the event.
WHEN
• On Thursday, September 6 at Silver Dollar Speedway, the pit gates will open at 2 p.m., with the grandstand gates opening at 5 p.m. and time trials are set for 6:30 p.m.
 
• On Friday, September 7 at Silver Dollar Speedway, the pit gates will open at 2 p.m., with the grandstand gates opening at 5 p.m. and time trials are set for 6:30 p.m.
 
• On Saturday, September 8 at Silver Dollar Speedway, the pit gates will open at 2 p.m., with the grandstand gates opening at 5 p.m.
 
 
WHERE
• Silver Dollar Speedway is located in Chico, California. Take Park Avenue .6 miles south of SR 99, then .1 miles west.
 

TICKETS
• On Thursday, September 6 at Silver Dollar Speedway all tickets will be $37 and are reserved. Three day tickets are also available. For ticket information call the Business Office @ 916-969-7484 and after September 2nd call the Track Office @ 530-891-6535.

ON TELEVISION
• The World of Outlaws on SPEED continues on Sunday, September 2 with the event from Skagit Speedway at 2 p.m. Eastern, 1 p.m. Central. The finale of the Gold Cup Race of Champions will also be taped for broadcast on SPEED.
The World of Outlaws will be televised 20 times this season on ESPN2 and SPEED while the World of Outlaws Late Model Series is set for six appearances on SPEED. The one-hour broadcasts will air on Sundays from May 13 to Nov. 4, when the series champions will be crowned during the World Finals from The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
Six World of Outlaws Late Model Series events this season will also be televised SPEED.
 
ABOUT THE TRACK
• Silver Dollar Speedway is a high-banked ¼-mile oval. The track record of 11.281 seconds was established by Craig Dollansky on Sept. 8, 2005.
