Simpson Father-Daughter Team Make History At Petaluma
April 16, 2010….Rio Vista, CA….It's not very often that you get to see history, but this Saturday at the Petaluma Speedway a Father-Daughter 410 sprint car team will both be in action with the Golden State Challenge Series. To the best of my knowledge this is the very first time in 410 sprint car history that a Father/Daughter has competed together in competition.
Dan Simpson and his daughter Daniellle will both be driving 410 sprint cars during round number five of the Golden State Challenge Series at the Petaluma Speedway. Dan has been racing the 410 sprints for 3 years after a short stint in the wingless sprints. Danielle has taken a couple of years off, after spending some time in the wingless spec sprints, to manage the Simpson Percheron Draft Horse Ranch.
Danielle made her first solo 410 appearance two weeks ago at the Antioch Speedway finishing 20th in her first A-main and finished 21st at the Groppetti Automotive Thunder Bowl Speedway in Tulare after encountering throttle linkage problems. At 27 years old, Danielle manages the Simpson Percheron Draft Horse Ranch in Rio Vista, CA and is a Champion Draft Horse driver in the four and six horse teams. Danielle's 6up number on her Maxim chassis, Kistler powered sprinter, represents her passion for driving a powerful six horse draft horse team.
Father Dan Simpson is also passionate about the Percheron draft horse and competes in draft horse driving competitions. He owns the World Champion Draft Horse Team. Dan ran a limited schedule last year after finishing in the top ten in the Silver Dollar Speedway championship and 12th in the Golden State Challenge Series in 2008. Dan will be driving the 4s Maxim chassis with Kistler horsepower.
Both teams are scheduled to run most of this year's Golden State Challenge Series events (when not conflicting with horse competitions) with Danielle also competing in the Silver Dollar Speedway, Feather Falls Casino series on Friday nights.
Danielle will compete this Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway before teaming up with her dad on Saturday for "Round Number Five" of the Golden State Series at the Petaluma Speedway in Petaluma, California. On April 24th Danielle will once again compete at the Silver Dollar Speedway and on Saturday the two car team will compete at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA with the Golden State Series.
