Puts adjustable anti-roll control in the cockpit for fine-tuning traction on the fly.
Drinan Racing Products of Indianapolis Indiana’s famed Gasoline Alley has long been known as an innovator in sprint cars, midgets and silver crown cars. Now Danny Drinan, the company’s namesake, has once again put himself on the cutting edge with the revolutionary “Dri-Bar” in cockpit fully adjustable anti roll systems.
“For years a lot of time has been consumed at the race track on test days and on race weekends simply changing the sway bars in the pits when you should be on the track, “says Drinan. “Current systems leave you stuck on the track with whatever choice you made in the pits. They also have you putting in additional pre-load to adjust for dynamic changes that occur at speed. This just adds a huge set-up variable into the equation”
Danny says there’s a cure. “What we’ve done is let the crews and drivers go out with a swaybar set-up that is where they “think” it will be. Then the driver can adjust around that starting point out on the track getting real time feedback. What’s more, when it comes to race time and the track changes during the race, you can make adjustments to compensate for those changes. The “Dri-Bar” lets you perform well at the beginning of the race and at the checkered flag, when it really counts.”
How is this done? Danny told us that the “Dri-Bar” system is actually simple to use and easy to install without any welding to the frame. It attaches to the existing front sway bar systems or bolts to the lower frame rails for the rear systems within minutes. You just bolt on the components run the adjustor cable and you now have choices.
What does it give you? At the front sway bar, you replace the existing head with the patented adjustable “Dri-Bar” head. In the cockpit is a 5-slot selector lever that clamps to the frame tube. The selector can adjust either softer or harder on the roll stiffness from your starting choice. For the rear, the system bolts to the lower frame rails with easy to install frame clamps and hooks directly into the rear torsion arm bolts. If you need more grip while on the track you simply move the selector to the stiffer position and feel the results of the change, immediately! It’s a bargain at less than $500.00 for the front system and less than $975 for the complete rear system.
Jerry Coons tells us that “At Western World we started the feature a little loose and I was able to tighten the car up from the cockpit. Not changing the bar much in the past, I can now dial the car in while I'm racing!"
And Cory Kruseman said: “By starting with the bar set where Danny told us to, the car reacted the same. Being able to adjust it was almost like cheating.”
The “Dri-Bar” seems to be the wave of the future for everything from quarter midgets to silver crown cars. In only the first couple of months Drinan says he has already sold 25 kits and that is only to the midget world so far.
What about the winged guys? Do you have anything for them? “Actually we do,” Danny says. “We have a rear system designed specifically for the winged 600 mini Sprints, midgets, and full size sprint cars that has seen some great results WITH OVER 40 FEATURE VICTORIES TO DATE and are available right now for everyone”.
