Mason Moore heads for Coke Championship Night at Silver Dollar Speedway this Friday

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA – August 26, 2009…After making his return to action last weekend Princeton, CA's Mason Moore is set to get right back at it and will head to the Silver Dollar Speedway this Friday evening for his first night of competition back aboard the family owned Rolling Hills Casino No. 22 sprinter during Coca Cola Championship Night at the Chico based quarter-mile clay oval.

This past weekend saw Moore take to the Silver Dollar bullring on Friday to get some hot lap sessions in prior to making his actual return on Saturday. "It felt really good to be able to get back in the car and get up to speed in Chico last Friday," the 18 year-old said. "I was taking it pretty easy though and didn't just want to get out there and blow through the turns right away."

With everything good to go Moore traveled to the Placerville Speedway on Saturday to compete with the Friends & Family Racing team in the Golden State Challenge Series season finale, for what his first night of racing since getting injured on May 23. It also marked his second series start of the season after scoring a 10th place finish at the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial on May 9.

A twenty-five car field was on hand for the final GSC event of 2009 and "Primetime" kicked-off the evening by timing-in 19th fastest, before running seventh in his heat race and second in the b-main to transfer into the feature. Lining-up way back in 16th for the 30-lap contest Moore was able to avoid a number of early collisions and cut smooth laps to get up to eighth by the time the final stoppage occurred just before the halfway mark.

A long green flag run was then seen to finish off the main event and the Princeton racer would run the remaining laps and cross under the checkered flag in the 12th position at the helm of the Inventory Sales Company, Day Light West, Levin's Auto Supply No. x1. "I would have liked to finish a little better, but I pretty much did what I wanted to do and that was finish all the laps so I'm happy with that," Moore said. "It was fun to be able to run a 410 around this place for the first time and hope we can do it again next year."

With a night of racing back under his belt Moore will now get ready for Friday's Coca Cola/Napa Auto Parts Championship Night at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. "I'm looking forward to getting back to racing at Silver Dollar and just hope we can get a good finish on Friday," said Moore, whose last Feather Falls Casino 410 appearance came on May 15. "I'm going to take it one step at a time though and just try to work myself back into racing shape, because by lap 10 in Placerville I started to get a little tired so it'll take a few races to get back to normal."

On Saturday "Primetime" will then head right back to the Placerville Speedway for night of weekly 360 competition in the F&F Racing, A.R.T. Enterprise No. x1. "We were real fast during the local shows in Placerville earlier this year so hopefully we can keep that up on Saturday," Moore said. "It'd be great if we could get a win during these last two point shows in P'ville and we'll be trying to make it happen on Saturday."

The event on Friday will also mark fan appreciation night at the Silver Dollar Speedway and tickets will be just $5 for adults with kids 11 and under being free. The pits will open at 3pm and the front grandstand gate will open at 5, an hour earlier than normal. For more info on the event this coming Friday visit http://www.silverdollarspeedway.com

Gold Cup Pit Seating: For fans planning to attend the 56th running of the Gold Cup Race of Champions on September 9-12 Handy Racing Promotions has announced that an extra 1000 seats are being added to the pits in addition to the normal seating that is brought in for the event.
