Bill
Balog and his B Squared Motorsports team competed 5 times over an 8 day period
from August 8th thru August 15th.
First up was the IRA
show at Charter Raceway Park in Beaver Dam, WI. Bill turned the quickest time
of the night with a lap time of 12.332 seconds. He then started 6th
in the heat and raced his way to a 3rd place finish, which was good
enough to transfer straight to the feature. Bill pulled the number 4 pill,
which meant he would stage the 17B from 8th place for the 30 lap
main event. By the end of race, he had raced his way to a 5th place
finish. By virtue of the 5th place finish, Bill now holds a 183
point lead going into this weekends IRA shows at Wilmot Raceway.
Next up on the
agenda was the 14th Annual Front Row Challenge at the Southern Iowa
Speedway in Oskaloosa, IA. Bill qualified 25th out of 45 cars
present. The 17B started and finished 7th in heat race #1, which
meant Bill, would have to run the b-main. He started and finished 2nd,
which was good enough to qualify for the feature. Bill started in 20th
and by the time the checkered flag had waived, he raced his way to a 15th
place finish.
The 3rd
event on the week was the 49TH Annual Knoxville Nationals. Bill
turned in the 25th fastest lap of the 50 cars present. He 3rd
in heat race #4 and by the end of the 8 laps had fallen to 8th,
which meant he would have to try to make the feature by way of the b-main. The
B Squared 17B started 17th in the b and needed a top 4 finish to
make the main. By the time the checkered had waived, Bill had moved his way to
a 15th place finish.
The team was back at
Knoxville on Friday for another round of the Nationals. The night consisted 3
b-mains and a feature event. Bill started 8th in b-main #2 and
needed a top 8 finish to move to the feature. Bill raced his was to a 7th
place finish and then started 20th in the feature event. By the end
of the 20 laps, he had raced his way to another 15th place finish.
The final night of
the Nationals was next, and the B Squared Motorsports team had accumulated
enough points from the week to start 5th in the D-main. The race was
only 12 laps in length and Bill brought the 17B home with an 8th
place finish.
The team will be in
