Balog nets Feature Win #3 on IRA 3 day race weekend

Current IRA point’s leader & defending champion, Bill Balog and team headed to the Elko Speedway in Elko, MN this past weekend for night’s 1 & 2 of the IRA’s 3 day race weekend. Bill turned the 13^th fastest time of the night out of 34 cars present, lining the B2 Motorsports entry 3^rd in heat race #2. At the conclusion of the 10 laps, Bill would bring the 17B home with a 6^th place finish, resulting in an entry to the night’s B-main. He started 5^th in the 12 lap race & needed to finish in the top 6 to transfer to the feature. He race his way to a 4^th place finish. For the feature, Bill would start from 20^th position, and with minimal passing & a right rear tire going flat; he brought the B2 Motorsports car home with a disappointing 17^th place finish. Night number 2 at Elko started off better for the B2 Motorsports team as Bill turned the 3^rd fastest time of the night of the 26 cars present. He lined up 6^th in heat race #3 and needed a top 5 finish to lock in to the night feature event. Bill passed 2 cars throughout the 10 lap race to come home in 4^th. When the #2 pill was pulled for the feature inversion that put the 17B in position #2 for the feature line up. At the start of the 25 lap feature, Bill fell in line behind the early race leader, and lap 3 is when Bill drove the 17B to the lead. A caution on lap 14 did not deter Bill’s quest for another feature win, as he would go on to claim feature win #3 on the season. The 3^rd and final night of the weekend was at Eagle Valley Speedway in Jim Falls, WI. The 17B qualified 13^th out of 22 cars present, thus resulting in a front row starting spot in heat race #1. Bill drove away from the competition in the 10 lap event and picked up another heat race win. The 17B would start the 25 lap feature from the 6^th position and by turn one of the 1^st lap; Bill had already raced his way to 3^rd. As the race progressed and the leaders got in lapped traffic, the 17B was closing in and setting up to make a move for the lead when the caution came out for a stalled car. Once the field went back green, the leaders raced single file to the finish, with Bill bringing the B2 Motorsport 17B home 3^rd. The team will take their 149 point lead back to Wilmot Raceway this coming Saturday for a single IRA event.
