Bill
Balog and his B2 Motorsports team were in action this past Saturday with the
IRA at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, MN. Bill started the night by
turning the 8th fastest time of the night with a lap time of 12.274
seconds. The 17B would end up starting 4th in heat race #2, by the
midway point of the race; Bill had raced his way to 2nd when a much
needed caution came out. Bill then set his eyes on race leader #6 Jody
Rosenboom. Bill & Jody exchanged slide jobs in a great battle for the lead
but in the end the 17B came out the victor.
The #5 pill was
pulled for the feature inversion & that would place the B2 Motorsports #17B,
3rd on the starting grid. At the drop of the green flag, Bill would
fall in line and wait for the right opportunity to arise before make any moves.
Before long he raced his way to 2nd & had his sight set on the
race leader. A caution about midway through the 30 lapper is all that Bill
needed to make his move. On the ensuing restart, he drove to the bottom in
turns 1 & 2 and drove under the race leader to grab the lead. From that
point on, he never looked back and would go on to claim his 2nd
feature win of the 2009 season. He now holds a 117 point lead in the standings
over 2nd place.
The B2 Motorsports
team will be in action 3 times this coming weekend with the IRA. Friday and
Saturday they are in action at the Elko Speedway in Elko, MN before heading to
the Eagle Valley Speedway in Jim Falls, WI on Sunday.
