PETALUMA, CA (6-13- 09)Sebastopol’s Bradley Terrell illustrated his ability to break even when the cards are down Saturday night. Terrell made an outstanding comeback in the All Pro winged sprint car feature event to finish in second place at the 1/3 mile Petaluma Speedway on the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma, California.

Driving the Vanlare Steering Repair #5v in the All Pro Championship Series event, Saturday marked Terrell’s first night behind wheel since graduating from AnalyHigh School in Sebastopol two weeks ago. The race marked his return to the speedway he calls home after a short break in competition to allow for a special event.

Saturday night, Terrell qualified in the third position behind fast qualifier Roberto Kirby who broke the track record on the well prepared surface. Terrell’s point racing rival Alissa Geving of Penngrove timed in second overall.

In preliminary heat race competition, Terrell finished in 5th place and was well prepared for the upcoming feature event. In the feature race, Terrell originally started in the 7th position inside of Geving to initiate a crowd pleasing battle between the two top point racers in the series.

At the waving of the green flag, the field gathered up before Terrell, forcing him to decelerate and lose positions. Following the set back Terrell fell as far back as the 13th position early in the race.

Much like he has all season long, Terrell did what he does best and began a crowd raising rally towards the front of the field. By lap 15 of the event that would fall short of 25 laps due to curfew, Terrell overtook second place driver Norm Johns to close in behind Geving for the final circuits. The night would end with Terrell maintaining second place in the point standings, trailing Geving by just five points.

“It was a really good finish for me considering I fell back to 12th place or so after the start, said Terrell. “ I only wish we could have run the full 25 laps and who knows, that may have changed the outcome. I owe a lot of thanks to Jim Vanlare and the crew for giving me a great car to drive once again.”

Petaluma Speedway will not be hosting winged sprint cars in the coming and Terrell will likely head to the American Valley Speedway in Quincy for the fourth round of the travelling Civil War Sprint Car Series. The next winged sprint car event at Petaluma will be July 3 with the Civil War Series visit’s Terrell’s home track for the second time this year. The All Pro Series will resume on Saturday, July 11.
