Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (August 27, 2007) – The American Sprint Car Series Gulf South Region will wrap up a full weekend of racing with a return engagement to 105 Speedway in Cleveland, TX, on Sunday night.

Following on the heels of two nights of action versus the ASCS Sooner Region on Friday and Saturday night, the series returns to 105 Speedway for the second time in series history after debuting atop the semi-banked, ¼-mile red clay oval on July 28.

Scottie McDonald of New Caney, TX, bested a field of 25 entries when the ASCS Gulf South Region made its first 105 Speedway outing one month ago to collect his first series win since early in the 2005 season.

Conroe, TX, shoe Ray Allen Kulhanek of Conroe, TX, leads a tightly-bunched ASCS Gulf South points race into the weekend, with just 40 points separating the top five and 74 points between first and ninth.

Kulhanek's lead stands at 14 points entering the weekend, with his closest chasers including defending champion Gary Watson of Beaumont, TX, Skip Wilson of Mesquite, TX, Brandon Berryman of Missouri City, TX, and Jimmy Brooks of College Station, TX.

Sunday's action at 105 Speedway goes green at 7:00 p.m.

105 Speedway is located six miles west of US 59 on SR 105, then 0.3 mile north on Fostoria.  For more information, contact the track at 281-592-7223.

After ten rainouts this year, the 2007 slate for the ASCS Gulf South Region now consists of 14 events at eight different tracks throughout Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.

The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series. With 13 different Regions in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
