ASCS Midwest & Northern Plains Schedules Released

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (February 16, 2009) – Another pair of American Sprint Car Series Regional slates have been set as the Midwest and Northern Plains schedules were released today. The ASCS Midwest Region is currently slated for ten nights of action at five different tracks throughout Nebraska and the surrounding area, with the ASCS Northern Plains Region set for eight nights of competition at four different tracks. For the fourth year in a row, the two Regional series will open the season by squaring off for two nights at Nebraska Raceway Park's I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE, on April 10-11. The ASCS Midwest and Northern Plains Regions will also face off July 31 at Crawford County Speedway in Denison, IA. Other venues set to host the ASCS Midwest Region in 2009 include Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE, along with Missouri venues of U.S. 36 Raceway in Cameron and Sedalia's State Fair Speedway. The series is currently set to put the wraps on the 2009 season at U.S. 36 Raceway on August 28. In addition to the I-80 and Crawford County Speedways, I-90 Speedway in Hartford, SD, and North Central Speedway in Brainerd, MN, are also set to host the ASCS Northern Plains Region in 2009. The ASCS Northern Plains Region will once again complete its season with North Central Speedway's Mighty Axe Nationals on September 5-6. North Dakota's Lee Grosz reigns as the defending ASCS Northern Plains champion after capturing his second consecutive title last year, while Nebraska's Jack Dover became the fourth different champion in as many years of competition for the ASCS Midwest Region by taking top honors in 2008. The American Sprint Car Series, in its 18th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing events, brings the best of Sprint Car racing to approximately 100 different tracks throughout 30 states and Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Dirt Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of a dozen different Regions throughout the nation.
