Meyers Gains Ground on Schatz in Standings After Runner-up Finish

West Lebanon, NY- September 22, 2008-Jason Meyers used a runner-up finish at Lebanon Valley Speedway on Sunday night to gain 21 points on Donny Schatz in the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship standings. Meyers leads the series with 42 Top-Five finishes, as well as fast time honors in qualifying and laps led. He now trails the two-time defending series champion by 118 markers with 12 races remaining in 2008.

Schatz picked up his 40th Top-Five finish of the season on Friday night at Eldora Speedway and was running fourth at Lebanon Valley Speedway with two laps remaining when he had a right rear tire go down, dropping him to 13th in the final rundown. The North Dakota native did earn five bonus points at Lebanon Valley for setting quick time in time trials, which were held back on July 20 prior to the A-Feature being postponed by rain. Schatz leads the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series with 14 A-Feature wins and 51 Top-10 finishes.

Joey Saldana used a fifth-place finish on Sunday night to move into a tie for the third spot in the championship standings, with Craig Dollansky, who is recovering from a compound fracture of his upper right arm, sustained Friday at Eldora. Dollansky will receive 75 medical exemption points each race for the duration of the injury. Saldana won his fifth race of the season on Friday night and now has 30 Top-Five finishes.

Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws champion was fourth at Lebanon Valley, after a runner-up finish at Eldora and has 26 Top-Five finishes on the season, as he remains fifth in points.

Jac Haudenschild used his fourth win of the season on Sunday night to solidly remain in the sixth spot in points. The veteran driver has 41 Top-10 finishes this season.

Chad Kemenah finished seventh at Lebanon Valley Speedway after a third-place performance at Eldora to move into the seventh spot in the standings. He has 32 Top-10 finishes this season, with 12 of those being Top-Five performances.

Kerry Madsen was running third on Sunday night with two laps remaining when he had a right rear tire go down. The reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year picked up his 34th Top-10 finish of the season at Eldora Speedway on Friday night. He is just one point behind Kemenah as the pair continues to battle for the seventh spot in points.

Terry McCarl was sixth on Sunday night and was seventh at Eldora, to pick up two more Top-10 finishes. The native of Altoona, Iowa now has 24 Top-10's on the year and is solidly in the ninth spot in points.

Daryn Pittman also picked up two Top-10 finishes over the weekend and remains 10th in the standings. He has won four times this year and has 27 Top-10 performances.

Sam Hafertepe Jr. matched his season finish on Sunday night coming home third and remains 11th in points, with Kraig Kinser just behind him.

Jason Sides picked up his 16th Top-10 finish of the season at Lebanon Valley Speedway and is less than 60 points behind Kraig Kinser in the standings.

The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returns to action on Wednesday, September 24 at Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, New York with an event that was postponed by rain earlier this season.
