Schatz Extends Lead in World of Outlaws Standings After Inaugural Race at Lucas Oil Speedway
Concord, NC- September 15, 2008-Donny Schatz used a runner-up finish in the inaugural Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series event at Lucas Oil Speedway on Sunday night to extend his lead to 108 markers over Jason Meyers, as he chases his third consecutive series title. Schatz has finished in the Top-10 in all but two A-Feature events this season and leads the series with 14 A-Feature wins.
Meyers finished third on Sunday night to pick up his series leading 41st Top-Five finish of the season. He also set fast time in qualifying for the series leading 12th time this year to earn five bonus points. He is second in points as he continues to chase his first series championship and has won eight A-Feature events along with a preliminary feature.
Craig Dollansky led 23 laps at Lucas Oil Speedway on Sunday en route to picking up his 32nd Top-Five finish of the season. The native of Elk River, Minnesota remains third in the series standings and has won seven A-Feature events and a preliminary feature this season.
Joey Saldana worked his way from the 14th starting spot to finish seventh on Sunday night to earn the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award. He is fourth in points on the strength of four A-Feature wins and 38 Top-10 finishes.
Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws champions picked up his 37th Top-10 finish of the season in the series inaugural visit to Lucas Oil Speedway. The native of Bloomington, Indiana has won six times this season and is less than 50 points out of the fourth spot in the standings.
Jac Haudenschild used his third win of the season to solidly remain in sixth in the standings. In his first season driving for the Carnahan Motorsports team he has 39 Top-10 finishes.
Kerry Madsen earned his 33rd Top-10 finish of the season on Sunday night and remains seventh in points, with Chad Kemenah just 28 points behind him in eighth.
Terry McCarl picked up his 22nd Top-10 finish of the season on Sunday night and is solidly in the ninth spot in the standings, with Daryn Pittman rounding out the Top-10.
Sam Hafertepe Jr. Kraig Kinser and Jason Sides all moved up a spot in the standings after the race at Lucas Oil Speedway, and are 11th, 12th and 13th respectively.
The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returns to action on Friday, September 19 at the famed Eldora Speedway in Ohio.
