Jason Meyers Continues to Gain Ground on Donny Schatz in World of Outlaws Point Standings

Elma, WA- September 1, 2008- Jason Meyers used a second-place finish on Sunday night at Skagit Speedway, along with setting fast time to cut nine more points off Donny Schatz's lead in the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship standings. He is now just 82 markers behind, as he chases his first series championship. Coupled with a third-place performance on Saturday night in the opener at Skagit, Meyers was able to gain a total of 23 points over the course of the last two events. He leads the series with 39 Top-Five finishes, including 20 consecutive, dating back to a win on July 9. He also leads the series with nine fast time honors in time trials, with the quickest driver in time trials each night receiving five bonus points.

Schatz picked up two Top-10 finishes at Skagit Speedway and remains the only driver that has earned a Top-10 finish in each of the 47 A-Feature events this season. The two-time defending Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion leads the series with 12 A-Feature wins, and is second in quick time awards with six, as he chases his third consecutive title.

Craig Dollansky earned his 29th Top-Five finish of the season on Sunday night and remains solidly in the third position in points. The native of Elk River, Minnesota has won seven times this season and leads the series in laps led.

Joey Saldana used his fourth win of the season to remain fourth in points. The second generation driver has 27 Top-Five finishes this season, driving for Kasey Kahne Racing.

Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws champion finished third on Sunday night at Skagit to pick up his 23rd Top-Five finish of the season. He remains fifth in points and continues to gain ground on Saldana, and is just 37 points out of the fourth spot.

Jac Haudenschild picked up his 35th Top-10 finish of the season on Saturday night. The native of Wooster, Ohio is solidly in the sixth position in the championship standings.

Kerry Madsen, the reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, finished a season-best second on Saturday night at Skagit and also earned a Top-10 finish in the finale. He has 31 Top-10 finishes this season and is seventh in points as he closes in on his first win of the season.

Chad Kemenah is eighth in points, just 37 markers behind Madsen. The 2006 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year has 27 Top-10 finishes as he too chases his first victory of the season.

Daryn Pittman earned his 24th Top-10 finish of the season on Sunday night. He has won four times this season and is solidly in the ninth spot in points.
