Schatz Continues to Lead World of Outlaws Standings, Though Meyers Gains Ground after Win in Oil City Cup Finale

Concord, NC- August 24, 2008- Donny Schatz used two Top-10 finishes in the second annual Oil City Cup at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada this past weekend to remain atop the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship standings. He is the only driver that has finished in the Top-10 in all 45 A-Feature events this season. That streak was in jeopardy on Friday night, after he was caught up in an accident on the 23rd lap that led to him getting upside and having to go to the work area for extensive repairs before the restart. Over the course of the final 12 circuits of that event, he charged from the 18th spot to finish ninth. The North Dakota native followed that up with a runner-up finish on Saturday night. He leads the series with 12 A-Feature wins this season aboard the Armor All J&J.

Jason Meyers picked up his eighth A-Feature win of the season on Saturday night at Castrol Raceway and coupled with a fourth-place performance on Friday night was able to gain 14 points on Schatz in the standings over the weekend and now trails him by 105 markers, heading into a busy stretch of races at the end of August and into September. Meyers leads the series with 37 Top-Five finishes, as he continues to chase his first series title, piloting the GLR Investments KPC.

Craig Dollansky finished fifth on the opening night of the Oil City Cup, and followed that up with a seventh-place showing in the finale of the two-day event to remain third in the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship standings. He also set fast time both nights to earn 10 bonus points. The driver of the Snap-on Tools Maxim has 39 Top-10 finishes on the season, with 28 of those being Top-Five performances. He has won seven times this season leads the series in laps led, with 284.

Joey Saldana finished fifth in the finale of the Oil City Cup and remains fourth in points, on the strength of 34 Top-10 finishes. He won his third event of the season last week at Billings Motorsports Park in Montana, as he continues his third season behind the wheel of the Budweiser/Open Joist Mopar-powered JEI.

Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws champion finished third on both nights of the Oil City Cup in the Q Oil Maxim and moved to within 13 points of Saldana in the standings, as they battle for the fourth position. Kinser has won six A-Feature events this season, and has 32 Top-10 finishes, with 21 of those being Top-Five performances.

Jac Haudenschild picked up his first win of the season on Friday night in the opener at Castrol Raceway, after his team had to change an engine after the Crane Cams Dash. He is solidly in the sixth spot in points, on the strength of 34 Top-10 finishes, as he continues his first season behind the wheel of the Owens-Corning Fiberglass Maxim for the Carnahan Motorsports team.

Chad Kemenah finished second on Friday night in the Oil City Cup and was ninth on Saturday night to remain seventh in points. The native of Findlay, Ohio has racked up 27 Top-10 finishes this year with 10 Top-Fives among those, as he continues to close in on his first win of the 2008 campaign in the Kantor Oil Company Maxim.

Kerry Madsen, the reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, finished sixth and eighth at Castrol Raceway aboard the TK Concrete Maxim, and is just five points behind Kemenah in the standings. He was fifth in time trials on Friday night and third on Saturday night, to earn four bonus points as he continues to battle for the seventh spot with Kemenah.

Daryn Pittman finished fourth in the finale of the Oil City Cup to earn his 23rd Top-10 finish of the season. He is solidly in the ninth position in points, and has won four A-Feature events this season, driving the Titan Garages Maxim.

Terry McCarl finished seventh on Friday night and bettered that one spot on Saturday night to earn his 19th Top-10 finish of the season, as he too chases his first win of the year in the Big Game Treestands Maxim.

The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returns to action on Friday, August 29 and Saturday, August 30 at Skagit Speedway in Washington. Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings through August 23
