Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings Through August 12

West Fargo, ND- August 13, 2008-After picking up his series leading 32nd Top-Five finish of the season on Tuesday night in the finale of the Duel in the Dakotas at Red River Valley Speedway in North Dakota, Jason Meyers gained 14 points on Donny Schatz in the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship standings. Meyers set a new track record in qualifying at the high-banked half-mile to earn five bonus points, as he continues to chase his first series title. He is currently second in points, 118 markers out of the lead. Schatz finished 10th to earn his 40th Top-10 finish of the season and remains the only driver that has finished in the Top-10 in each and every event this season as he seeks his third consecutive series championship. The North Dakota native, who is in his first season driving for Tony Stewart Racing, leads the series with 12 A-Feature wins through August 12 and currently leads the series championship standings. Craig Dollansky finished fourth at Red River Valley Speedway to earn the overall title for the Duel in the Dakotas, which also included the event at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota, where he finished second back in June. The native of Elk River, Minnesota has 35 Top-10 finishes this season and remains solidly in the third position in points. Joey Saldana used a runner-up finish on Tuesday night to earn his 24th Top-Five finish of the season. The second generation driver remains fourth in the championship standings and has won twice this season as he continues his third season behind the wheel for Kasey Kahne Racing. Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws champion, finished seventh at Red River Valley Speedway to earn his 28th Top-10 of the season and remains fifth in points. He has also won five times this season to bring his career total to 548 A-Feature victories. Jac Haudenschild finished third on Tuesday night and is solidly in the sixth spot in points on the strength of 30 Top-10 finishes. The veteran driver is in his first season driving for the Carnahan Motorsports team. Kerry Madsen, the reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year remains seventh in points, with Chad Kemenah the 2006 rookie of the year, just seven points behind him. Daryn Pittman used his fourth A-Feature win of the season to gain ground on Madsen and Kemenah as the trio battles for the seventh position in the standings. Terry McCarl rounds out the Top-10 in points, on the strength of 14 Top-10 finishes. Shane Stewart used his 18th Top-10 finish of the season at Red River Valley to close to within three points of the Top-10 in the standings. The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returns to action on Thursday, August 14 with their inaugural visit to Gillette Thunder Speedway in Gillette, Wyoming.
