ASCS Patriots Invade Brewerton Speedway For The First Time Friday Rich Vleck, TULSA, Okla. (July 7, 2008)- Brewerton Speedway, a historic Central New York Short Track, located in the heart of ASCS Patriot Country, is ready to swing their gates open for their first sprint car race in a dozen years. Brewerton Speedway, located just north of Syracuse, will become the 25th track to host an American Sprint Car Series Patriot Region Point Race this Friday with the 8th points race of the 2008 season. Known as the “D-Shaped Dirt Demon”, this 4/10-mile has long been a desired destination for Patriot Competitors, many of who are within an earshot of the speedway. Fans too have shared this sentiment, awaiting such an event. This Friday Night, their dreams will come true. This track, known for their weekly big-block modified action, will also be a homecoming for drivers that used to be a regular at the facility. Defending ASCS Patriot Champion Chuck Hebing ran weekly at Brewerton for years, including in 2004 when he also ran Saturday’s in his sprint car at Black Rock. He has won two modified races there, as well a win this year in his first time in a micro sprint. Jason Barney has also turned a number of laps at his hometown track. The last time Barney ran with the Patriots, he picked up the win at Canandaigua. With that he, he carries the A-Verdi King of Central New York Series point lead to Brewerton, along with the Walton’s Farm and Auto Repair Hard Charger Lead. ASCS Patriot Veteran Dave Wickham has lived within a mile of the track for years, but has never turned run a competitive lap there. He has been anxiously waiting for this Friday to come for some time. Tim Devendorf has dominated mod lite action at his hometown track for years. The 2004-2006 champion is expected to make his first Patriot start this weekend. Jared Fink, coming off an impressive weekend, won a Central New York Mini Sprint event at the facility in 2006. Among those without experience at the D-Shaped Dirt Demon are Bryan Howland and Jared Zimbardi, the two youngsters chasing after the 2008 ASCS Patriot Championship. They will both scramble to get a hold of the track to gain those valuable points. Once again, Riverside Bar and Grill will sponsor the Four Laps of Fame Scramble Dash as part of their A-Verdi King of CNY Dash Sponsorship Package. Racing will get underway at 7:30 this Friday at the track just a mile away from Interstate 81.
