I'm sure Bill W could set this straight, but I believe in the past all teams that made it to the track and the races were called off were paid tow money. Seems it was $100. More for the top 10 teams. Do not know if that is the policy now.

Yes, teams are paid tow money, sometimes even if they aren't quite here. It depends on time of day. I believe points teams get $100 and everyone else $50. It's not much in this day and age, but it's something, I guess.

Talking to Cap, officials usually get half pay for nights like Saturday as well as power, advertising, etc.

Teams Saturday Night that were in the top twenty in points last year in both the 360 and 410 divisions received $100.00 each. That equals $4000.00. All the other race teams that were in the infield Saturday night got $50.00 per team tow money, including all the IRA travellers.

Then you have to since, the pits and grandstands were opened, have to pay for the insurance. Also the work of refunding tickets and pit passes in the mail. Advertising expense, security, food concessions, track preparation, electrical for the lights, etc.

Many more hidden expenses. Hope you are right about the officals Bill W. but usually no pay until the heats are completed.

I made the attempt knowing full well rain was in the area and certainly on the way. Due the slight chance that "What if it didn't.." I would have felt worse for a race that was run and staying at home doing the woulda, coulda, shoulda....

Thanks to those in the Knoxville region calling me on the road trip to let me know well in advance to turn back home to find an alternative race for the night rather than drive all the way for nothing.

Agree with going even if there is a "slight" chance they might get the race in. I can remember several years ago making a 3 hour drive to an All-Star race and it rained the whole way to the track, and we were calling every 15 minutes and they said "Its raining now, but we "might" have a window to get the show in, so we kept driving. When we got to the track, it stopped rainning as we pulled into our parking spot. They got the whole show in with no rain, and as soon as the checkered flag flew on the feature, the rain started again, and it rained the whole way back home.

If I would have stayed home, I would have been PO'd. I knew the chances were against me, but there was a "slight" chance that they would get it in, and they did. I applaud any track owner/promoter who gives it his/her best shot to get a show in. True race fans are willing to take the chance and/or to sit through several hours of on again, off again rain to see a sprint show.
