Great thread. You have some listed that I wouldn't have included. Won't mention any names. I would have added at least Bobby Laden and Jerry Walkingstick.
I noticed you put Wahoo on the outside. Bet he'll be in the lead by the first turn.
Only fair to put Leep on the back. That will make an interesting race.
Not sure why Peters and Johnson are provisionals and some of the mid pack runners are in the A. Peters should be in the Hill / Kearney car. In '79 that car and driver was so far above the rest of the field it was pathetic.
Keep 'em coming

Jack Claxton would be on center stage, calling all the names/nicknames of all the drivers.
Calling all the sponsors/car owners without the aid of a radio or a line-up sheet.
Great picks/memories by everybody.
Thanks

All great picks by every body for sure.
Only 1 announcer could handle all the names/nicknames of all the drivers mentioned
Jack Claxton.
Thanks

To an old country boy comin' from 100 miles away, Jack would make it seem larger than life. Probably when he wasn't trying to.

The race should be sponsored by Sav-Auto.
Jack Claxton is my all time favorite but wasn't there an announcer from the Speedway that went on to announce all over the country and announced the Knoxville Nationals? I wanna say Jack Miller but I'm not sure.

But............ on second thought, How could we have a race such as this, without having those famous words screamed into the mike? No, not "Gentlemen, start your engines". I'm speaking about the much more famous:
HERE COME THE SUPERS!!!!!!
But I draw the line at mother-in-law jokes.

Jack Claxton was the best ever in this state. Windy McDonald at Manzanita used to be as good but he's slipping a little in his old age now. Windy is still among the best working today.

Mike it was Miller. He still talks about his days at Okc in some national sprint car mags.
