Ok, As stated in an ealier post Eddie Worth never drove for Pepper Fite. My guess is either Greg Whooley during peabody Classic in 1987 or 88 or Billy Boat at the last race,.... setting the one lap track record as the last car to ever Qualify at Ascot. BUT! Billy ussually had yellow helmets w graphics and his name.

The 91 car could be one of three drivers,... Jeff Haywood, Mike Sweeny, or Lealand McSpadden

Kevin, it was Lealand driving when this photo was taken.

Thanks, everyone, for the nice comments on the photos.

The photo shown above of the #91 car is Rip Williams driving it during the 1990 season,I know this as fact because mine and my fathers name isn't painted on the arm guard of the car and a couple of other things on the car that are missing that we always used.Me,my father and Lealand all went to Danny Pivaroffs team in 1990 and Rip drove Franks car that season,we all returned to Franks team for the 91 and 92 season.

Yes wallscaper, that guy from Arizona won just a few races for us in the 5yrs. we were all together.

Its either Lealand, or Ripper in the 91 DSD Car. I am sure CRA 91 knows for sure.

Ok, now you've got me thinking CRA91. I have pictures of Lealand standing by the 91 with the crew and also the picture I posted here. I'm wondering if I shot the two photos on two entirely different days. I didn't take my Mother's advice and date my photos like a good boy should. Besides, it's more fun trying to guess, ain't it.

I have a photo I took of Ron Shuman driving the Gas Chem car at Ascot. When I showed it to him he said that was the only time he ever drove the car. If Ron's name wasn't on the hood I would love to post that one for guess the driver.

Anyone remember when Aggie thought an Ascot day race was a keen idea? Remember the old track lighting where cars would run from one patch of light, into the dark and back into another patch of light?

Greetings from Oklahoma. Ascot was my all-time favorite track. The first time I went there in '85, I couldn't understand why nobody had taken those "really good" parking spaces outside turns 3 & 4. After the races, I could barely find my rental for all of the Ascot clay that had been thrown over the fence. I'm just lucky no one ballparked one onto my Cavalier.

Keep all those great '80's and '90's photos and memories coming. I love you guys out west.

Where from in Oklahoma, Bill? I grew up down the street from Tulsa speedway. Used to go on Saturday night to the midgets in the mid-fifties when I was a kid. The cigar-chomping Buzz Barton era. One night watching those guys race and I was hooked for life.

Oklahoma City (Norman actually) here. You've got got me by 15 or so years but I love hearing my stepdad telling me of Barton, Cecil Green, Jimmy Reece, Lloyd Ruby and the like. Jimmy Reece was actually going to help him learn to drive a midget but was killed before he had the chance.

I grew up watching Harold Leep, Emmett Hahn, Jay Woodside and others racing the old super modifieds.

I fell in love with traditional sprint cars in the mid-80's on the old CRA midwest swings. I did PR for the OKC speedway then and got to know Gary Sokola, Eddie Wirth and the guys when they came through. Good days.

When I see y'all bickering about USAC and such it kills me. I know from a car owner or race team perspective you have to protect your interests but from a fan's point of view, you guys don't know how good you have it. Manzanita last month was absolutely the BEST. I can't wait for next year.

cra91, when eddie quite racing bikes him and sal and perry sold the bike stuff and bought a sprintcar together. they ran together for a year and then eddie and perry bought sal out. they ran for a couple of years together with John Barnes help. Steve Davis had split with Heywood and was just hanging out when Glen Sander called and put the 2 together. I dont think im an old geezer either but i was present at all of these events.

carbonkenny,

Sorry about the misinformation about Eddie and thanks for setting the record straight,I know you know alot more about Eddie's past than I do and since that was over 20yrs. ago I guess my memory isn't as good as I thought it was.

See you at the races sometime,

Terry
