First time I saw Davey was at an outlaw show at Cedar Lake in Wisconsin. It was his first time (I think) on a short track. I could see there was some talent there with improvement each time on the track. His results weren't spectacular that night, but he showed he could improve his line and smoothness every time he took to the track. He has continued to improve every time I have seen him (still only five or six times, since I don't get to Knoxville often).

Have not met his grandfather yet, but I have met his dad who seems to be a very nice person. I make a point to stop by their trailer after the races and offer encouragement to Davey. He is a genuinely nice kid and excited to be driving.

Thanks for the info on the Dollansky connection. Craig's my favorite Outlaw and glad to see he's able to help out a bit.

Davey's younger brother Danny is driving a 360 this year (I beleive it's his first year in any kind of car). Have not really gotten to see him race yet, but hope he has the same kind of talent.

just a note to keep everybody on the same page. Butch Maxwell, Davey's and Danny's grandpa who owns and works on both cars has been in racing for many years. Back in the late 70's and early 80's Bill dollansky (Craigs Dad) drove for Butch competing in the MSA sprint organization and a few trips to knoxville and at least one to eldora. During this time DJ and Craig and all the other drivers kids became friends. When it was decided to put Davey in a 410 Butch called Craig. During the conversations Craig mentioned he could use another crew man for speedweeks in FL that spring and what proved to be a monumental education on car maintenance and preparation, Davey was fotunate to go. He developed relationships with Craig, Rob Hart and Craig Stevens who were the crew at the time. Relationships that continue today. Deluxe Crates owned by Dan and Lynn who owned the blue 54 car back in the MSA days have come on board this year to help with the task of competing at knoxville every week. Charlie Garrett has been very patient in guiding the team with their first 410 exprience. The Gruebel family who is there to do anything and everything to keep two cars on the track. The quietest guy on the team Paul Jenkins who drives us to and from the races 600+ miles every weekend. The team wants to thank everyone for their support. Every week we here of another person who has been keeping track of him and Danny on the internet. See you at the races!

Is Dan's last name Schearen or something like that? I think the Lynn you're talking about might be a distant cousin. If you see her ask her if she grew up in Vadnais Heights and if her maiden name was Wilke.
