Good to see you made it out Bruce! Thanks for the pics.
Hope Saturday's track doesn't deter anybody from coming later this month. You can bet that the track will be better. The first couple GSC shows at the Thunderbowl definitely are not indicative of how the track usually is.

Your Welcome,Any time Gary! Heat 4, Becker was lofting the front end coming out of turn 4. The last half of the main was the dusty part.Adding clips under Golden State on the web site.Should all be up in a couple Hours. Had battery issues during the dash and when the hardtops came out.Never did see the yellow super.

Thanks for your homage to two great drivers of the past. Kenny Tak was a nice surprise. Very nice, I enjoyed all of them. Only wish that those reporters covering the race would include a line or two about this great rivalry from yesterday. Keeps racing alive. You even had captions!

Trplecrwn- I did mention some info that I know about Al and Marshall in the pre race preview so I did try to keep this tradition alive.
I also wasn't even near being born when these two legends raced so I don't know all that much about them. I'd love to hear some stories from you about these guys. I always enjoy the history of racing so please realize that I didn't try to slight these two.

just ask any of the old-timers up there, I am sure they could help you out. Both Sargent and Pombo ran at the old Kearney Bowl as well as Clovis and of course San Jose Speedway. I will send along some items for your information. Kenny Takeuchi was the top track announcer on the west coast and had a huge fan following. Keep up the hard work.

This is a memory going back to KEARNEY BOWL Speedway in Fresno ...
By Bob Barkhimer :
One of the most popular drivers I ever met was Marshall Sargent... a Big strong and muscular man . One night at Kearney Bowl a fight erupted in the infield.
I went out there and found my friend Smokey Hanoian ( also the track referee / official ) trying to stop the flow of blood from his "just broken nose" Seems that Marshall Sargent had hit Smokey ... breaking his nose.
This was the worst possible thing ...having one of our most popular drivers hitting our official which was also very well liked.
I went over to Marshall ... amid all his shouting pitmen and said : "Marshall ...you are SET DOWN !" (Suspended)
I then asked Smokey to file assault and battery charges against Marshall, which he did !
Afterwards I said to Marshall..."What got you into this ... You know we can't permit this " Marshall took a long look and told me ..."Barky , Smokey called me a Son of a B____ and NO ONE ...even my dad calls me that !"
That complicated matters so I went to Smokey and told him what Marshall has said. Smokey explained that yes ...he did say that ...however that is a term he uses everyday to all his friends ...
WOW ... what do I do now ?
Sargent went to court ... The judge fined him $ 50 and placed him on probation for 6 months ...Which is about the time it took to get Smokeys nose back to normal .
Marshall then came back to race again ...
AUTO RACING is dangerous ... JUST ASK SMOKEY !
