EARL’S POINTS AVAILABLE THIS WEEK AT VENTURA & BAKERSFIELD;
CLAYTON, HOCKETT, SWEET, COTTLE, McCLISH & FAAS (2) FQs
Six drivers earned Earl’s Fast Qualifier honors in USAC racing this past week and two races this coming weekend will offer valuable points toward 2008 Earl’s Fast Qualifier championships.
Drivers Daron Clayton, Jesse Hockett, Brad Sweet, Shane Cottle, Brian McClish and Nic Faas all posted fast qualifying times in recent competition. Races Saturday at Ventura, Calif. (CRA Sprints) and Bakersfield, Calif. (Western Midgets) are next up for drivers seeking Earl’s points.
Clayton and Hockett were fast qualifiers for the Saturday-Sunday Lucas Oil Sprint races at Calistoga (Calif.) Speedway, while Sweet topped qualifying for Friday’s National Midget race at Beaver Dam, Wisc. Cottle paced Sunday’s K & N Silver Crown qualifying at the DuQuoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds and McClish was the fastest Western Sprint qualifier at Salt Lake City, Utah Sunday. Faas topped Western Midget qualifying both Saturday and Sunday at Calistoga.
Current point leaders in the Earl’s standings are Tracy Hines (K & N Silver Crown and National Sprints), Bobby East (Mopar National Midgets), Tanner Swanson (Western Sprints), Faas (Western Midgets) and Mike Spencer (Lucas Oil CRA Sprints).
Earl's Performance Plumbing, a division of Holley Performance Products of Bowling Green, Kentucky, is the sponsor of the "Earl's Performance Plumbing Fast Qualifier Championship." Earl’s will present year-end cash awards to the drivers finishing in the 1st,2nd & 3rd positions of the "Earl's Fast Qualifier Championships.
