Here is little bit on the past winners. It was a Cinderella story for Eddie Martin, of Stilwell, as he posted the win in the inaugural event. Martin raced his way from the “D” feature in the final day of the 1996 show to qualify for a starting spot in the 50-lap main. He marched from the back of the “A” feature to capture the win.
In 1997, local hero Troy Gemmill thrilled the Enid crowd with a win. The next two years were sweet for professional late model driver Edwin Wells, of Morrilton, Ark. Walt Butler took the victory in 1998 in a car owned by Wells, and Wells came back in 1999 to post the win.
Modified competitor Kelly Cross, of Amarillo, Texas, dominated the field in 2000, and Ron Jones, of Zimmerman, Minn., won in 2001. Trivitt Hegwood, of Goodwell, beat Cross to win the following year, and Levi McGowen won in 2003.
Hometown favorite Kenny Morris had the fans on their feet as he put his Ford in the winner’s circle in 2004, and modified hot shoe Chad McNamara, of Blackwell, dominated the event in 2005 and 2006, becoming the first repeat winner. Last years winner was Chris Dawson from Post TX, he won on the last lap as the leader Rod Bencken from Kansas got caught up in lapped traffic. So you can see many drivers from diferent states has won. Its hard to say who is going to win but one thing for sure its going to be a GREAT SHOW.

Is this the same big Street Stock race that Ron Jones has run a few times? I could be speaking out of turn but he might have even won it.

I checked out the Enid Speedway Park website and found this photo of the 2007 Street Stock Nationals winner.
The cars appear to be closer to what we'd call a Super Stock up here but unlike the Supers they have a spoiler on the rear deck like a Late Model. I couldn't find a history of the event but I'd swear that Modified veteran Ron Jones out of the Zimmerman/Princeton area built a car and ran this deal.
