I had to google Tom Meents to see who he was because I don't follow the trucks but have seen them a few times. That photo of him jumping over the house is pretty wild so he probably would be fun to watch in a sprint car if his kahunas are big enough to do stuff like that.

i agree 100% which i why i question why you let people post garbage like what ajlusk and some others do. jackson is in a tough enough spot let alone people bad mouthing the classes they may run before a decision has been made! i used to drive 3 hrs to watch sprints at jackson before i started racing. the arrogance of some of the sprint people have soured me and other on sprint racing. i'm like you stan...i don't give a damn what kind of car it is...if it's a good race thats what i'm there for!

Don't read into what I said. It's OK to follow one class of racing exclusively if that's what a person wants to do. Racing to me is just entertainment and we're not obligated to spend our time and resources on something we don't enjoy.
I can see both sides of the coin on going to races at Jackson. On the one hand I know Mod drivers who run at Cedar Lake and some of the other tracks in this area. They're good people who love racing and I enjoy watching Dave Cain and Craig Thatcher just to name a couple of local racers near where I live. On the other hand, from Forest Lake to Jackson is around 3 1/2 hours so when I go there to see Sprints and have to wait until midnight for the other Features to run I have been known to grumble a little. Not because I haven't seen good Mod or Stock Car races, I enjoy USMTS and the WDRL Late Models, but mostly because I'm tired and have a long drive ahead of me. If I lived a half hour from Jackson Speedway what time the Sprint Feature runs wouldn't even by something I'd think about.

I would agree with you Stan on this one, I thought the A-mods put on a pretty good show at Jackson with the long straight-aways, you could realy tell who had there cars set up when they carried the front left wheel down the front straight and also into the corners as these guys moved up in the race.It just seems that when you have a big track like Jackson you need cars that go fast to keep the fans attention. Who wants to watch a car turn a 60-70mph lap on a big half mile track? Also every county fairgrounds track in the state of Minnesota & northern Iowa run some sort of a stock-hobby, stock-car class of cars!

What's the big secret? I don't understand...I thought the race committee was in a hurry to install their new promoter! Instead they forgot how to communicate. Has their desperation reduced them to secrets and scandal? Sounds like theres some silver "goon juice" involved! What the F**k?

I would certainly think it would be announced if in fact they had a promoter.

From the Pilot Raceway news;
Jackson County Board to Meet with Potential Race Promoter
The Jackson County Board of Commissioners will meet in Emergency Session on Friday, February 9, 2007 at 4:30 p.m. to interview a potential promoter for the Jackson Speedway racetrack. Commissioner Loren Tusa, Board representative to the County Racing Advisory Committee, announced that after several months of interviews, the committee will have a recommendation for the Board on Friday.
According to Tusa, "We have interviewed several good candidates from across the Midwest, but dirt track racing is struggling, which made our job even more difficult. We had to find a promoter with the right combination of experience and financing to not just keep the track open, but make it successful."
In addition to Commissioner Tusa, the County Racing Advisory Committee includes Jeff Heser, Dennis Frodermann, Doug Johnson, Don Benda, Commissioner Roger Ringkob and County Coordinator Janice Fransen as an ex-officio member. For additional information contact: Janice Fransen, Jackson County Coordinator - 507-847-4182
