Cedar Lake Speedway Reschedules Billy Anderson Memorial Sprint Car Show
7-12-08 New Richmond, WI
by Greg Parent
After inclement weather postponed the 7th Annual Billy Anderson Memorial for 360 sprint cars back on April 26, Cedar Lake Speedway is pleased to announce that the race has been rescheduled for Saturday night September 13. A complete program for the 360 sprint cars, sponsored in part by GRP Motorsports, will be held during the final night of the Legendary 100 adding yet another dimension to an already spectacular four nights of racing at the legendary Wisconsin speedway. "We worked hard to find a date that would have the least number of conflicts and September 13 was a good fit" stated Ron Bernhagen who helps assist Cedar Lake Speedway with the scheduling of their sprint car shows. Support for the Billy Anderson Memorial in past years has been strong amongst the 360 sprint car drivers around the region. The late season date should make it possible for several teams to travel to the event, as their regular tracks will be done racing for the year. The race was scheduled to pay $1,200 to win back in April, but GRP has added some additional sponsorship support increasing the first place payout to $1,500 with $1,000 for second.
Previous winners of the Billy Anderson Memorial include Tony Norem (2002), Bill Boles (2003), Jerry Richert, Jr. (2004), Loren Langerud (2005), Jake Peters (2006), and Chuck Swenson (2007). Area sprint car fans were hoping that the event would be rescheduled in order to continue to the tradition. With the 8th Annual Jerry Richert Memorial IRA/Knoxville/NOSA Challenge for 410 sprint cars scheduled to run the previous Saturday night September 6, sprint car fans will have two chances to watch two different groups of the "winged warriors" do battle on the 3/8 mile high-banked dirt oval in September.

I honestly have been so busy that I haven't even looked at the IRA schedule for a while. I'm trying to get setup so I can get into the infield and take photos otherwise I won't be going. They've got some restrictions on photographers down there so I've got to make sure that's taken care of before I drive that far. I don't watch races from the stands much anymore, it just doesn't interest me and bleachers are hard on my back and neck.
Maybe we'll see you if the weather cooperates and I can get access.

I'll be at there for the "Billy" & for the "Reichert".
I've been saving money for a new Sprint motor for next year.

Whew, for a minute there I thought I wasn't seeing you because my eyes were going bad. Even if I didn't spot you I'd probably be able to sniff out a Summit.

P.S., I found the photographer's registration form that the Deer Creek promoter sent to me and submitted it to my publisher. Now all we've got to do is keep an eye on the weather and make a final decision before it's too late. They've got a chance of that dreaded R word in the forecast so I'm keeping an eye on that before I decide to spent the gas money. Alternative if I'm going to risk getting rained out is staying closer to home and watching those door slammers.

I'm sure GRP or Vinster could tie you to the hood or the bumper if you need a ride. Hopefully see you there Stan.

If I am not mistaken they are working on more sponsors as well so this purse may increase.
