Schedule looks pretty good to me although I would have liked to go to either Santa Maria or Fernely again. I am definitely going to Quincy speedway to check that place out. I am planning on going to Learnerville or another track in the PA or OH area during Dirt Cup weekend and I will make sure to wear my CA shirts proudly, he he. Looks like the first race of the year will be the WoO race in Tulare on the 23rd, 24th. Looking at schedules is getting me excited about next year.

Other than not understanding why thy didn't go ahead and make the June 22nd date a GSC race at Chico on the way to Quincy (which isn't bad just curious) this is a great schedule. Is the Pombo Sargent classic back at Hanford now?

Yes Chris, Tulare opted not to take it back. Although it doesn't state it on the schedule, I'm pretty sure the April 2 day show in Hanford is the Pombo/Sargent Classic, rather than the 1 day show in July that's on the traditional weekend.

At the end of this past year it was talked about moving the Pombo/Sargent to April because of the limited crowd support in recent years due to the heat. The crowds have been miserable the last couple years and hopefully this move will revive one of the best events on the west coast. Of course it won't be the same since the heat kinda defined the Pombo/Sargent Classic. lol. Smile

Gary,

The GSC schedule I printed from the JPM web site doesn't show any GSC show at Kings in April, but does show a 2 day show at Kings in March. I can understand trying to get away from the heat in July, but March might be a little too early in the year. Not for being too cold, but possibly too much chance of wet.

My bad, hadn't had any coffee yet, I meant the 2 day show in March.

Lets just hope that March and April aren't as wet as this past year.

March is a tad early. But it does give me a reason to visit my inlaws in Lemoore, see one of my favorite race tracks, honor two of the greatest drivers ever, and I will bring the beertap so whoever is staying at the racetrack will have some antifreeze flowing through their veins. AND I'm not selling calendars so I can just enjoy the races like everyone else. Works for me....:-).. Oh shit......I forgot about the camp Nazi. Won't be offering her any beer........

NO FERNELY????!!!!!! Here we go again! It took 2 years of bitching to get it BACK on the schedule. I really thought we'd get a yearly race there now.....even a 2 day event which would be optimum. Tell me John/Robbie, what will it take to get Fernely back on the schedule to stay?

At least on the bright side we got Quincy. Maybe they'll at least put some effort into track prep?!? Smile

As far as Quincy goes I think the pressure is really on Jim Richardson and Co. to get the track right since15 years ago during the last NARC sancioned race cars disappeared into clouds of dust. I'm betting that they get it right because if they do they will have a home run and it would be great to seem them get a major two-night event going up there because the town, the people, and the area are truely a beautiful thing. As for Fernley I'd rather keep it an ALL California thing with Hanford back being a part of the mix. I'm sure there were multiple factors that John and Robbie had to consider and you have to keep open the possibility that the people at Fernley simply weren't interested / couldn't afford a GSC date.

It did not look like they had that great of a crowd last year at Fernley, plus the the track was crap until main event time when they finally got the dust or blowing sand under control. I thinnk Quincy will be a much better place. Only problem with with Quincy is the motels are not great (fleas etc.) and they do jack up the price when they anticipate a crowd in town, also if anyone needs a motel make your reservations early. Those that camp will be fine since there are numerous camping areas in the vicinity.
