Hello my name is Mike Gibson and I have recently taken over ownership of the track at the Victorville Fairgrounds. As some of you may know it is our intent to start building our own in house Sprint car show this season. The division for now will consist both 360 & 410 non-wing sprints. If the 410s consistently dominate we will try restrictors or if enough 360s are in attendance we will go with a 360 rule across the board. It was our thought not to come straight out of the gate with a bunch of restrictions and leave the rules open for now in hopes to get as many racers to the track and spread the word (good or bad) that Victorville has sprint car racing. I would also like to let everybody know a great amount of time and effort has taken place over the last few months to reconfigure the track surface and we have added 47 loads of clay in hopes of making Victorville a place to go RACING.

Thanks Mike Gibson 760-403-4144

All you have to do is not schedule against any of the other So Cal tracks and you will do good. Ask the team owners what way you can equalize the 360/410 if its your intention to fill the field at first with both cars. Or another option might be to run them together but have them run for their own purse. Of course the fans would be confused but the car owner MAY be pleased. Again, that is something you have to discuss with them.

In roping we have what we call an Incentive Roping where the lower classified roper competes against the better ropers. They have a chance to win the big money but at the same time they compete for the Incentive Purse as well which usually pays 3 places as opposed to 20 places in the big purse.

Anyway and either way, the best of luck to you but remember NO ONE wins if you compete against another track by scheduling against them! Run the barn doors when Perris and Ventura are running their sprints!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the idea of letting everyone run. The answer to "equalizing" the two cars is VERY simple. The 410's run the VRA tire, the 360's run the RC3. If you take a little bit of Rt. rear tire away from the 410's they have NO advantage. On the dates that do not conflict,... Ill be there. Lets have fun!

I agree with Kevin, a good 360 car can compete with a 410 car particularly on the smaller tracks.

a $1000 to the winner will also gain interest--Brane Sturgeon

I plan on running the races that do not conflict as well. How many of those are there, they need to move the April 21st race to the 28th since we have that weekend off, and would allow Kevin ,and I to race up there. Just a thought that I think would help the track get thier sprint car deal going. I think you would get at least 10 more cars by doing this. Thanks.

I'm looking at a map of calif. looks to me like Ventura is much farthur away than Moreno Valley, so to me running against Perris on the 28th would NOT be a good idea (considering the fan base).

Way to go Victorville Auto Raceway on the 3/8 mile dirt track. Glad someone step up to the plate and make this happen. Now it's up to us sprints to keep it happen just show up and lets go racing. So what if you have a 410 I think it would make a good bench marker at least for me and I never race against 410 before and it would be interesting.

For those who are worried about it just support or help out (instead of whining about it) with rules once this get started if you don't like it then don't show up. This is a great oppertunity for those who are just starting out, intermediate sprinters, those who live in the area that don't want to travel far etc...

This is great for me because it's in my backyard 30 miles 30 minuites away I can't complain. As for the schedule it's great for me also because I can do 2 division at the same time CBSCS (2006 Rookie of the Year. Thank you Santa Maria) and Victorville sprints thats more seat time and maybe a win someday! I was planning on doing both Bandit and SCRA 360 schedule but my budget won't allow me to do both because round trip to Santa Maria and Hanford is exactly 360 miles and 6 hours from where I live. I spent more time and energy traveling to the tracks then on the tracks (LOL). Victorville helps out on the traveling time and fuel cost now I can get more seat time.

Here is an oppertunity for very top drivers (financially set car owners) to set some records in socal if you haven't seen it yet. You can take 3 series championship at the same time (think about it). Bandit, SCRA 360, and Grand Slam 2007 championship yes at the same time if you are very good top driver. Here's another one Bandit, Victorville, Grand Slam 2007 championship. Ventura has very full schedule and it's in it's own class by itself and you have to be fully dedicated to their schedule if you want the VRA 2007 championship. On Ventura Sprints days off they can race at Victorville or Santa Maria or SCRA 360 you now have choices.

Thanks you Victorville Auto Raceway we will see you there.

Lets go racing!!!

Turner,

No one has whined. Everyone is offering very constructive observations about what is in the best interest of everyone involved in racing. VV just needs to make sure that they DO NOT schedule against anyone in order to get maximum car counts to develop a fan base from which to grow upon. As a fan, I have no interest in watching 12 guys run 4 three car heat races. In order for them and everyone else to get more cars to the track they need to have their OWN dates to have the greatest chance of getting high car counts!

It is actually very simple! Make the car owners and drivers happy, fill the seats to capacity and have reasonable prices at the concessions and the place will be a hit!

Joe

PS. Offer promotions to the Boy/Girl Scouts, Local Schools, Have Show and Tells at local community events. Have let the kids in free nights and make your money at the concession stand that night. Get yourself exposure and it will work out! Best of luck!

I dont see anyone whining either regarding this fact, unless he thinks my post is negative, which it is not, considering I support almost every 360 club in so-cal. I would think the promoter would study the schedules before putting his out to obtain a healthy car count, and make Victorville a success with the sprint car class. I am willing to support the track although its about three hours away from my home if they will accomodate the VRA group which has the healthiest 360 organization pretty much in the country for non wing sprints. If he can do this, I think things would materialize much quicker for the track.

P.S. That is the best grammar I have seen in a long time Turner.

Yes I agree with you skyharbor and sprintace. I didn't think you guys post is negative at all I was just jumping the gun about those who are going to whin about this new track posting in the future sorry about that! ( probably very soon especially about 410's running with 360 LOL). We will see how the this race season turns out and if it's a good turn out I'm sure the all the pomoters will work out a better schedule next year. I heard about Victorville back in September 06 but didn't say anything about it until it came thru not like the AV 1/2 mile. Maybe next the AV 1/2 mile dirt track??? (collecting dirt and dust on its own for now. Waiting!!!)

Yes I hope you guys can get more cars to show up from Ventura . Bandit, SCRA 360 and maybe some USAC/CRA also should show up at least once to check it out and yes there is few openings and hope you guys could make it also. I'm going to Victorville next week to check it out and I haven't been there since 2003 and now it's a 3/8 mile sounds good to me.

Lets go racing!!!
