Sorry there isn't more. I've been wanting them myself but I think G is busy texting with Troy cuz his Chico updates are more detailed than his Ocean updates.
A main is on the track now

Sounded like a good race. Any photos?
Oh that's right photographers are not allowed in the infield. They have to shoot from outside the track on the turns where it is safe.

L&J-----thanks for the great photos and lots of them too---but just how did you take all of them ? with a remote controle camera placed in the infield while you where outside the track where its safe ?

Shrek - My comment was in regards to two MSPA (Motorsports Press Association) photographers being told they could not shoot from the infield because it was too dangerous and the track insurance did not allow it. So they shot from the outside of the turn where it is "safe (see sarcasm)" to get the shots for their publications. At any rate, when two nationally recognized photographers, one of whom has been taking photos longer than the Promoter has been selling cars, are given a hard time there is something wrong. Especially when they have supported that track for so many years.
What makes it even worse is that the president of the MSPA is the infield announcer.
As for L& J photography. I am sure they are nice enough people but where do they publish their photos besides the free picaso site? Hoseheads, Motoracing, SprintCar & Midget, local newspapers? Have you ever tried to contact them for use of photos on a website? I guess if Ocean doesn't care about publicity then who else should care either?
It will be interesting to see what happens with the WOO race and the media.

Anyone with a basic understanding of Physics should see the flaw in that logic. Ever notice which direction the dirt flies? Ever notice the direction a wheel goes when it leaves a car at speed? Ever notice that when contact is made between cars at speed that 9 times out of 10 they and their flying parts head in a trajectory that is the opposite of the infield? The only time I ever felt comfortable being on the outside of the racetrack to shoot was when there was just one car on the track and I was behind a barricade of some kind. Sure the infield is dangerous but start by not turning your back on the race cars and add some common sense to see where you can at least shoot SAFER from there.

Gee, is this a new requirement from the insurance company? We must be the only track that doesn't have that rule. BTW calendarguy, what is up with you not coming to the track now that you live in Chico???? Too far to travel?LOL

HA! You're funny! I've been there most Friday nights and have tried to wave at you whenever I walk past the pit gate but you are a busy and popular girl as you know :-). My mom is in town right now so she and I got there early last Friday to secure a seat in the main grandstands. Kristine and Serena showed up after qualifying but Serena wasn't in the mood to sit still so they left two hours later. Trust me when I say that one of the many "perks" of being up here is the racing at Silver Dollar. I've reconnected with so many old friends that it really is hard to put a price on it all. I'll try harder to get your attention next time :-).....

John - The two photographers were Paul Trevino and Dennis Mattish. They both told me the exact same things in seperate conversations on Saturday. So what you are saying is that they were lying?
I wasn't there. Why would I drive 4+ hours through Bay area traffic on a Friday afternoon to be set outside the infield? I would not be able to do my job from there and would not feel comfortable/safe doing it from there either. That after I paid you to promote your track.
I understand you wanting to stay loyal to your track photographer. However, you are doing a diservice to your track, your sponsors and the traveling teams when you limit their exposure they way that you are. I have been requested to come shoot at your track by more than one team and one of your sponsors because they did not feel they were getting the exposure they felt they should. I tell them the same thing I just told you above. If I want to be treated like that I can go to Infineon for the weekend. Why Paul or Dennis continue to try is beyond me.
As you have probably guessed I am not going to call. However, feel free to post a rebuttal here. Better yet, tell all of us your policy regarding photographers and journalists. Shooting from the infield or not, etc.
