Man, this Calistoga Race is gonna be a big deal.
Lets see who is going to be there:
I don't know for sure who will be there but these are some of my guesses
Nor Cal Guys:Bud Kaeding, Tim should be there, what about Statler, Foresburg, BK, Kyle Hirst, Peter Murphy, Jeff Delte, Jason York, Shain Matthews, Shane Golobic, Mike Benson, Sparky Howard, Kyle Larson, Myles Bishop, wouldnt Tyler Walker without the wing be something to see.
How do we get Brad Sweet and Robert Ballou to come back home for this race?
Some one said that the orginal Rim Rider is gonna climb in a car for this race, maybe Lil Rim will be there too. We all know that the wild man Anthoney Simone has been back in a race car, will he appear?
So Cal Guys: I wanna see Casey Shuman there, Charles Davis Jr., Super Rickie Gaunt, Mike Spencer, Blake Miller, Danny Sheridan, Garret Hansen, Cory Kruseman, Tyler Brown, Josh Ford, David Cardey, Davey Pombo, Nic Faas, Cody and Rip Williams. And a big fan favorite Tony "Cowboy" Jones.
I have heard rumor that Damion Gardner and Jesse Hockett are going to make the trip out here. Are there open cars for other midwest guys, like Stanbrough, Clayton, Darland, Bacon, Hagen, Cottle, Jones, Hines, Coons. I have heard from a couple of guys who said they would bring a specialist out, and peel the wing off the car for them.
Man oh Man this gonna be a grand ole party.

Yes, this should be two great days of racing. I read on Bobby Gerould's website a month or so ago that Brad Sweet would be there. I don't know how many wingers will take them off but they are racers and this should be a big race weekend. Tony Jones will be there in the Alexander #4. I would like to see Tyler Walker run without the wing, it would be interesting. It would be great to see Chuck Gurney (Rim Rider) again. And I am sure that most of the CRA regulars will show with the tow money that Steve Howard is raising and with the help of the Vermeil brothers. Can't wait.

The schedule on Kyle Larson's website say's that he is planning on running the race. Damion Gardner, Jesse Hocket and Darrin Clayton are all planning on coming out West as well.

Good post Merline, I like your enthusiasm and your right, it should be a great show. I sure would like to make it, that track has always had a lot of mystic for me, but I've never had the oppertunity to make a show.
I'm kind of curious though, when you started out the list of drivers you thought or hoped would be there it started like this... "So Cal Guys: I wanna see Casey Shuman there, Charles Davis Jr" and then on to super Ricky etc. You must know that Casey and Charles are AZ boys and neither one of them have ran in So Cal much this year. Now if you want to drop AZ drivers in that hat, how can you forget Jeremy Sherman? It could be said that Jeremy gets around Manzanita's big 1/2 as well as some of the best ever have and Calistoga would be a good track for him. Lets throw in RJ Johnson, and heck, Chad Boat as well. Yes, it will be a grand old party.

I know, this could be my last chance for a really good tradition show at Calistogo. If there was a chance I could hook up with someone here in AZ, there is a chance I might be able to pull it off.
You know my history, my dad running back in Indy after the war and growing up in Torrance and later phoenix then back to Ascot for 63-73, then back to Manzy in 85. Calistogo is a track I should see before the end of this deal. Been to most in N.M. Cal, Oregon and Washington but somehow I've missed that big 1/2 mile. Not many left over here.
Jesse Hockett should love it! He's about as old school as a young guy can get. Casey should like it as well. Anyone who ain't scared of Manzy and runs that place well, should do fine..
Not a snowball chance in you know where that Gardener, if he shows, will be up front. It took him a couple of years to get around Manzy without knocking down the wall in 3-4...LOL

Ahhhhh Torrance. Gosh I miss that area. I used to hang out with my "west coast" family in Torrance (I lived in San Pedro). Ran up and down Torrance Blvd down to Redondo Beach, jumped over to Hermosa and Manhattan and so on. Back in the 60's - 70's, who ever would of thought the Redondo Beach Pier would be run into the ground as it is today? Just trek a couple a steps up the coast to Hermosa and Manhattan piers and its amazing how different the pier businesses are. Ascot on Saturday nights....just didnt get any better than that!

I was fortunate to run there back in 1980 when NARC/CRA had their civil war series. It was quite a thrill.
I remember right after I finished qualifying, shut the motor down and was climbing out, I heard some commotion in turn one and looked up to see Anthony Simone flipping out of the joint and landing in one of the trees outside of turns 1 & 2.
Good memories.... ]

I have $300+ dollars stashed in my sock drawer, that's where I save my money for my trips down to Rocky Point to fish with my buddy, and if my Scottish side keeps saving $ to add to it for Calistoga instead.... Well who knows, maybe the stars will align with the planets just right, and I'll make it..LOL
Thanks; Kenny

I know what you mean. I started stashing money away late last year as I had planned to fly back for sprint week this year with my son and grandson. When the Calistoga show finally became a reality - things changed. There is always next year for Indiana. Now all of my family (brothers, nephews, grandsons, daughter and son-in-law plus my son and his girlfriend ) are going to make the trip. It will be a great weekend and I will be remembering all the great drivers I used to watch at that track, especially the "Great GP" Gary Patterson. Again hope you can make it (I think your scottish side will win out).

The best bet is Santa Rosa. Calistoga and anywhere within 10-15 miles is high price resort or already booked. Santa Rosa is about 25 miles away and that is where everyone is staying, unless they have an R. V.
