"Modifieds down: The number of USA modified entrants decreased by about 10 drivers Friday night. State Fair Speedway officials said the decline is likely a result of a United States Modified Touring Series event in Ardmore. That race offered a $2,000-to-win purse."

I was there at Ardmore so was David and by my count there might have be one SFS regular and that was pushing it with Timms. Most everyone was from Texas. By they way there were 60 mods. One guy from New Mexico and two guys from Arizona. I was sitting in front of some guys that Cowtown is their hometrack and they said that ITO cowtown will have more cars than last night.

Pretty good racing track went dry slick and was dusty. Hughes won on a second to last lap pass. Timms broke.

There were acutally 2 regulars at LCS Friday night, #11 Alan Olivia and 27G Travis Gorbet. Travis got a late start at SFS, but has been there the last couple times the modifieds have raced.

Jorski blew his motor Thursday night for USMTS practice so he is out for ?

Tyler Propps was saving his car for the just completed NCRA modified opener at 81 Speedway in Wichita Saturday night (finishished fourteenth, which in reality was twenty-fourth overall as they took ten from that "B" feature he was in and had a twenty car field. 57 modifieds by the way.

Already said the story about the two Goforths. Don't know who else was there or not there but there are some regulars that wasn't there Friday night.

There was 16 modifieds there Friday night. Cory Davis and some else engines let go before the heats. 2 other cars that were there for the first time never took to the track. Bobby Smith Jr. car is getting rebuilt. Lloyd Buntin had a cracked motor. Of course we know why Charlie and Royce White are not there. Alan Oliva & Travis Gorbet was at Ardmore. Shawn Jorski blew up at Ardmore Thursday night. Chris Roach and Charles Day have no motors. Don't know what happened to Don Smith. I know there is more, but that would have given you a 26 car field.

Car count ### at Tracks is down it seems like everywhere. But with the exception of TMS, car count at big Mod shows seem to be 50 to 60, which in my opinion are pretty respectable ###. Economy has to be playing a big part of local decline in ### everywhere. So I think everybody should go into work tomarrow and ask for a raise to help out car count at tracks everywhere.

My modified was sitting at the house fridaynight. I really can't see putting my equipment at risk to go out and run for what's paid at SFS. I made more money saturday night running my modified in a 20 lap feature at Brill's than I did running my 8 lap heat, 10 lap b main, and a 20 lap a main that I crashed out of. So, I ran 18 laps less and took home more then twice the amount of money by going to Brill's on saturday.

We only had 11 mods start th feature, but there was plenty of action including the 64 of Jay Sale flipping his modified and a repeat winner in Jeff Decocq. If this keeps up, I'm going to burr ny hair!

I was talkin with another racer from SFS today, and there are some issues that we thought might contribute to this. When I first started racing Pro Stocks you could get a chassis for around $5000 and a motor cost around $7000 and that car won you more money then than it does now. Factorys were the same way I paid around $8000 for my 2nd and it was a top 5 car for its time and then again it seemed like you could win more $$$ then than you do now. With cost of cars being alot more today than a few years back I think some racers dont see the rewards in the purses that are being offered. I wonder how many cars SFS would have in the Mods if Lanny was to offer $1000 to win {$500 more per nite} and left the rest of the purse the same? Grooving of tires is another item that can save the Mod Drivers some $$$ but Lannys tracks are the only ones that dont allow it.

It must be a great feeling to be known in alot of places as the "ASSHOLE OF DIRT TRACK RACING PROMOTERS" which Lanny keeps consecutivly year in and year out.

There are many things he don't allow, that ALL the others do.

He won't and don't listen EVEN if you're trying to help the racing out at one of his tracks.

Many have stated "Lanny makes his money at the Chili Bowl and could care less about the 3 tracks he has during the regular season", man I believe it, 1 winner in the FS races at Lawton this year with the leader already having 1800 something points over a 900 something 2nd. 10 cars at average, WOW!

yeah it very well may be BYE BYE Lawton. and as I said a lot last year - in more moderate ways he has set SFS down the same path. And yes sir - as long as he has that gravy train up in Tulsa - he can afford to run tracks into the ground - especially SFS - since he does not own it. I think it has become obvious he is not in it for the long haul at SFS......................

which leads me to my next question - can we get Bo Rawdon from Cowtown to promote Friday Nights at SFS???????? PLEASE????????? ps - I know he ain't the only good promoter - but I think he could do a great job at SFS (with the right equipment of course too) - the only thing he needs to remember is to not bring the Cowtown announcer with him. that guy would likely get lynched at SFS and the Purcell Patriot would spontaneously combust. Seriously - look what car count Bo Rawdon pulls at Cowtown every week ----------- and this while another track ONLY 200 YARDS AWAY IS RUNNING DIRECTLY AGAINST HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rawdon is simply an exceptional promoter. and I think he could run a great show at SFS and still make money off of it.

Fan that brings up another question. How long does the city plan on keeping the track.

Maybe Lanny knows something we dont! Since the discussion of what to do with the Grandstands began, the car count has seriously declined. Just throwing that out. Not necessarily an opinion, but he's probably in the loop with those dicussions.
