I am sure you have heard about Voodoo economics. Well, we are now using this same philosophy scoring the cars at SFS.

During one of the Modified Heat Races, the 86 car stopped in Turn 4 coming to the checkered flag. Steve Smith got caught up in it. The yellow didn't come out. The flagman waved the checkered flag.

Steve got his car going and crossed the finish line. The 86 car was pushed into the pits, never crossing the finish line.

Both cars should have started the on the back of the A, since there was only 22 cars, with all the nonqualifiers. Steve was put on the back of the A, the 86 started on the outside of row one. The explanation was that because the yellow came out, they backed the lineup back to the previous lap.

The yellow never came out.

Does anyone have a logical explanation as to how this could have happened? It must be VooDoo.

I know SFS uses that point inversion for their feature lineups - but you are right dude. that makes about as much sense as sending Mike Peters to the back for never stopping while they threw the yellow for a car stopped in turn 2. You would think a booth full of people would be able to do better. I'm suprised they haven't said no sponor lettering on car - numbers only (sarcasm). but yeah Gosey that doesn't make any sense.

I don't know where the 86 should have started. but if he was to start on the front -then Smith should have started around the 7th or 8th row with him being 6th in points going into last friday. either way - there was never a yellow and both the 83 and 86 should have been scored in the same fashion. Also - if one of those starting spots is right - the other has to be wrong. they can't both be right. you would think if Creek freakin County Speedway could go to transponders - so could the Fairgrounds.but a way would probably be found to render the transponders useless. Was that really the best explanation they could come up with?

I was wondering about the yellow not coming out. I was in that race. It was the white flag lap, coming down the back straight I saw the pile up in turn 3&4. Autry went high and I went low for a drag race back to the line. I was expecting to see a yellow but the checkers waved instead.

They may have just wanted to get on to the next race, but that doesn't explain the scoring snafu.

I wondered the same thing about the yellow from up there in the wooden bleachers. We weren't anywhere near the curfew so I was surprised the yellow didn't fly.

i thought since he had one night before and did not do so good that they went off of point average therefore putting him in that spot i could be wrong but i thought that is how they did it

I think they were in a hurry to get to that seemingly hour long intermission. Another aint fair speedway deal. What's new?

The way I have always understood it is that you have to finish in a transfer in the heat to get your point average in the A. Even though there wasn't enough cars for a B, they still take like the top 4 or 5 and give them their average.
