Questions??

I'm not trying to start anything just wondering

What do you think of the cars pitting, in the outfield like Cedar Lake, or the infield like Jackson and Knoxville, which is better?

What do you think of the lineup procedure at your favorite race track? Does it promote good competition or hurt it?

What are your favorite driver’s plans for the 08 season?

Pit on the outside, that way everyone can see the races.

I like the passing points but not ASCS's new rule of redrawing the Top 6 in points for the Feature instead of starting straight up or running a Dash to determine how the Feature is lined up.

Favorite driver's, not sure if they want there plans unveiled quit yet.

Unload & pit inside. Headline class pits in front row in front of the Grandstand so fans can watch "action" in the pits.

ASCS passing points with a Dash for line up of the top 2 from each heat.

I Agree, UNLOAD AND PIT INSIDE !!! That's half the fun of racing is to watch the guy's & gal's in the pits working on the car's !!!! PLUS THESAFTEY FACTOR !!!! MY BROTHER INLAW WAS KILLED AT A LOCAL TRACK BECAUSE THEY PITTED OUTSIDE OF THE TRACK AND A CAR HAD PROBLEMS AND HIT A GROUP OF PEOPLE !!!

Definately pit on the outside, I would never want to try and unload and send my trailer with all the parts and tools away, what a pain, It would take over 2 hours to unload and then another 2 hours to load everything back up out of my semi trailer, The safety factor should be safer if they have a seperate pit area outside that the cars racing can't come flying into like when your inside many of the tracks.

If it takes you "over 2 hours to unload and then another 2 hours to load everything back up" you're bringing WAY TO MUCH STUFF to the track! Cripes, you should be able to assemble a complete Sprint Car from loose parts in four freakin' hours.

sprintr, Check out their website. Those ain't sprinters those fellas are driv'n.....

It depends on the track. If the track is big enough and doesn't obstruct anyones view of the races pitting in the infield seems to bring the excitment level up a notch. Just more for the fans to keep tabs on during the night. Many tracks and teams are set up to either pit outside or unload so this is kind of a dead issue.

I won't mention any track here, but you should be able to draw for your starting spot at the beginning of the night for your heat race and then RACE your way to a starting spot in the feature by passing points. No point average. No starting in the back all night because this is your first night at a given track or you missed a week because of problems or personal reasons. Make the heat races mean something and throw the re-draw for the feature in the trash.

My favorite driver retired in 2002...

I've never raced a track where they just drew for the heats and then raced your way into the feature, I really like that idea, If it goes by point average I prefer going on a 3 night average, that way the cars get to move around a little bit in the lineup, unlike the season long average where if you start out good the 1st month your pretty much in the back all year. personally I've always hated the draw/redraw, never had much luck with that one,

And yes probably starting to bring to much stuff but we have a 53ft semi trailer and run between 3-5 hobby stock style cars out of it,

#1) Depends on the size of the track as long as the sight lines are good.

#2) Again I don't pay much attention as long as I can get some good shots.

#3) I don't know, the only drivers I have talked to this winter are Justin and Marshall Fegers. I guess those guys don't factor into a Sprint Car discussion but I can say that Justin won't be chasing WDRL points this season.

The details aren't important to me but I know that a lot of you guys savor every tidbit of news you can get and that's cool. I got burnt out chasing interviews in 2003 and now I just concentrate in lining up the best photo I can. Hopefully you guys will post some interesting news here so I don't have to work very hard to find out what's going on this season wink

If you're running that many cars, you should have more than enough manpower (crewman) to do the job in a reasonable amount of time.

Just tell them "No Beer until everything is loaded!"

You must save a bunch in Fuel Expense hauling that many cars in one trailer!

I'm talking sprint cars here not stock cars. It's easier to pit on the outside of the track or infield with the trailer because of all the extra parts there are with sprint cars. Most teams carry rearends, frontends, brake assemblies, fittings, pumps, misc hardware etc. Plus we carry our own lighting, air compressor, air tools and alot of other things that you just can't unload in the infield. The safety aspect of it is that you have a place to shelter yourself from harm's way by being behind a trailer or truck that is nearby if it became necessary. This is just my personal opinion of course.

I don't mind if cars pit in or out of the infield as long as the haulers and trailers are outta there! Nothing ticks me off more, than to go to a track and find a seat only to discover that we cannot see the back stretch because the view is obstructed! Jackson does come to mind on this one....hopefully no haulers in the infield this year.

I think the drawing for the heats is awesome from a fans point of view! It would definitely add some excitement to not only seeing the line-ups but the action going on during the heat races. Some of the local tracks do that point average thing......boring.....need to change it up and this drawing for the heat race is one very COOL idea!!!

I have many fav's running with the WoO's, the All Stars, the ASCS, and can't wait to take in the local racing action at Huset's, Jackson, Fairmont, Rock Rapids, Worthington, and Slaytona!! I even keep dibs on fav's out in PA posse land, Williams Grove and Lincoln Speedway kick off in 2 weeks-Woo Hoo!!! Smile

i would rather be pitted with the truck and trailer. whether its inside or out i dont care. if its outside it's nice to have stands so you can view the races. seems like if you hafta unload the one part you need will be the one you left in the trailer. never fails!

Well, I like to see what is going on with the track while working on the car. If we pit outside the track it will be pretty hard to see anything because we are working on the car. Or we could watch from the bleachers to see what is going on with the track, but then no work is getting done on the car.

So has anyone heard any verdicts for jackson on where we will be pitting? I know about everyone involved in the 360's was in favor of keeping it just like it is. Unloading so the fans can see good, and everyone involved with the cars can see good and keep tabs on how the track is changing to set-up accordingly and put on a great show.

Update from promoter Jon McCorkellWe will unload all enclosed trailers for 2008. Same exact thing as last season. I still do think that it would be better to have a pit area off of turn one, but at this time there is not enough money in the budget to build an adequate pit area.

We have added a Sportsmen Division and we will adopt Worthington and Slayton's rules and call this division the Sportsmen Division. This is a very entry level class and it is hoped to get a lot of local participation, as these cars should be very affordable. Sportsmen rules are posted in the rules section.

The Hobby Stock Class will not be sanctioned with IMCA in 2008. We are going to follow Fairmont, MN basic rule package. This will hopefully get us some more cars from other tracks to come and join us. Hobby Stock rules for 2008 are also posted.

IMCA Stock cars no changes, as we will remain sanctioned for 2008 with IMCA.

No significant changes for either Sprint Car Division for 2008.

Well I guess this answered my questions. Thanks for the update Jon.

Jon is taking the Sportsman Class from the Slayton /Worthington tracks, we are a step below the hobby class, examples are no ford 9" unless of course your racing a ford, no front hoops or petty bars, and we have to pull 15" of vacuum at 700 rpm

of course the sportsman classes from the sioux falls area are a step above the hobbys

Kenny your an idiot! How come everything Jon does you tear him down? If you have such good fucking ideas why don't you do something about it instead of sitting on your ass bitching about it and living in the past dwelling under Matt's shadow? Grow up and move on, give the guy some credit. Jon has got the fans back in the stands, yeah sure the car counts are down, but Jackson isn't the only track across the country that is hurting. They all have to do what they can do to make the racing better and more affordable, and well adding a class isn't out of line. So you can go play with CZ and the ASCS and just shut up about Jackson if you don't like whats going on.

Fire Starter! Get over it!

Well TommyBoy, Thanks for the positive response. Although I don't agree with your "opinions" of my mental status, I'm sure everyone can see from your language and spelling skills that you are a highly edgeikated indyvidule... This is a message board and I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Do Stan a favor though and try to keep it clean. I do not and never will believe in back gate promoting. The reason being is he was down to four classes last year and that is one of the main reasons why his crowd was growing. Unfortunatly with the way fuel prices and our beloved economy is, this is probably the only way the local tracks will be able to survive. I don't believe I have attacked Jon or Jackson Speedway directly in any way since he has taken over for the second time last year, if I have, I apologize and wish him nothing but success. Never claimed to have any great ideas, don't like sitting around much, I hate history, and Matt isn't big enough for me to hide under his shadow. I just had a birthday in January so I have the growing up deal covered, and I moved to a new house in October so the moving on deal is covered too. As far as CZ and the ASCS is concerned, I do like that Chuck is doing what he can to keep sprint car racing going in the Norther Plains. Nothing against Jon or Jackson, or any other track but it just gives the sprints another option to see some other tracks that can't afford to run sprints on a weekly bassis.
