Check out czpitpass.com. Apparently Swenson has been suspended from all ASCS competition until January 1, 2008. That's a start, now let's see them do some tech on a lot of the national "hot dog". Jackson better take a good look at this example as well. If Jackson is going to adopt these ASCS rules then they better be capable of enforcing them next year. Who knows how many guys have illegal head work being done right now. Any builders out there care to respond? It will be interesting to see who is selling heads or engines this winter.

Here's what I think of this "suspension"

Chicken Sh*t suspension. Per ASCS rules "Penalty for altered spec head will be subject to suspension, for one calendar year"

There are 3 races left on the Northern Plains schedule that he will miss during his "suspension".

If ASCS wants to gain some credibility they would stand behind the rules and hand down real punishment for a 2 time cheater. What a joke it is. (I'm sure this was the only time he used the illegal engine in ASCS competition this year.......)

You have your right to your opinion. Read the rules again. It says " subject to", not mandatory.

The Northern Plains events are not the only events that he can not participate in. He can not compete in any ASCS sanctioned event including the ASCS I-30 Nationals in Little Rock, AR, ($20,000 to win I believe), as well as the WESMAR Challenge race at Devil's Bowl. I think the suspension handed down is appropriate.

Of course, we could always shoot him, drag him behind the pace truck and sell his first born if that would make you happy...CZ

That might be a little drastic CZ, but nonetheless, this is an open forum and suggestions are always welcome I believe. Seriously though, if we are going to keep ASCS as an appealing option for racers, then this type of problem needs to be addressed quickly and firmly and I believe ASCS has taken an important step with this penalty. Otherwise, skepticism might get the best of some racers and fans, not only towards the ASCSNP, but ASCS as a whole.

Sounds to me that with some illegal heads, as everyone say's, maybe ASCS better think about sleeving the stacks too.

Not sure what difference sleeving the stacks would make.  Everyone is limited to 2 3/16" now, and if you sleeve them the bigger heads will still make more power (actually on a dyno pull from 2 3/16" to 1 7/8" sleeves is only a 10 horsepower loss....have sheets to prove it).  I think the spec head is fine, and if teched and enforced like they have been and should be, then no problems in my opinion.  You get caught, your problem and you suffer the consequences.....simple as that.

If Lanny would bust out an "X-planation" to clear some of this up.
