Sorry to hear that Moose and if it helps I know how you feel. I sent an e-mail recently to Steve Lafond who had recently had to put their dog Mo down who was as much a member of that family as a living being could possibly be. We exchanged some e-mails about four legged family members each of us had lost and the emotions were real on both sides. Grieve in whatever way you feel appropriate and know that others will understand how you feel.

Sorry to hear this, and I understand completely Moose. I lost my beloved calico cat Patches about 3 weeks ago (the week of the NSCS Speedweek up here), just short of her 15th birthday (which is on 09/03). Had her since the day she was born, and it never does get any easier. I still have 3 cats, including Patches' mother cat Oreo, and they have been a HUGE support for me. They are so my kids, totally family to me (my best friends). But it is still very hard to go thru/deal w/ . Hang in there, and if ya need anything.....

Moose - My condolences on your loss. It seems many of us have felt that recent pain. I too lost one of my best friends (Chloe) to cancer about a month ago. Having to put her down was perhaps the hardest thing I have ever done and even now as I type this have a tear in my eye for her and Bocephus. I truly feel for you loss but know that they can play and chase balls in a place surronded by friends.

John

Been a while, but we had it in a string of consecutive years, lost our cats (Phil and Tony) to old age, and Nipsy (our schipperkey) got cut down in his prime by some odd-assed disease at 9. Probably aint gonna be long before old Cork-Miester heads for the checkout desk, he's gettin to be a pretty wobbly cattle dog at 18. I guess climbing fences does that to ya when yer 126, lol.

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool,
but then I'm not 16 so therefore my opinion is of no
consequence...

For Any of Us who has lost our beloved friends, we have a 19 year old cat, Courtney, who is still doing fairly well, so I will reread this myself to get ready for what will have to happen.

Especially for Moose and Annette at this time:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Sandy,

Isn't that the most beautiful? I have that on my entertainment center with my little best friend's ashes and her foot print. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of her and miss her so much.
