Allisa Geving captured her 1st ever 360 sprint car A-Main at Petaluma Speedway Saturday night June 14. Geving is the 1st feamle to ever win a sprint car main event at Petaluma and at just 16 years may be the youngest ever female to win a 360 event in California or the USA. Geving took then checkered flag exactly 1 car length ahead of the #43 of Bradley Terrel who literally pushed Geving across the line to victory.

20 cars (lowest car count this year at Petaluma)

Weather: Foggy, fog came in so early that it was not bone chillin cold

New Car to track: #29K, Josh Keheley

Track: Greasy and bumpy early and then semi tacky and still a few ruts during the A-Main; alythough there were stll 2 lines to run.

1. #6c, Jeff Parady(2) 2. #4q, Ad. McCarthy(4) 3. #3x, Geving(5) 4. #96, Arvo Backholm(3) 5. #7, Nick Ringo, Jr. (1) - The #6c of Parady jumps out to the early lead. Ad. McCarthy quickly grabs 2nd on with a turn 4 outside pass of Ringo, Jr. on lap 2. The #x of Geving is now pressuring Ringo for 3rd and makes the pass low in turn 4 on lap 4 as Ringo, Jr, does a wheel stand and falls to 5th. McCarthy applying pressure to Parady for the lead, but Parady holds him off to the checkers.

1. #10x, Roberto Kirby(2) 2. #19, Art McCarthy(4) 3. #14, Scott Merrel(3) 4. #2b, Dothage(5) 5. #57x, Mitch Pyle(1) - The #10x of Kirby takes the laed from outside row at the drop of the green. The #57x of Pyle begins to fade badly as he was not running well tonight. McCarthy grabs 2nd with a low move in turn 1. McCarthy cahes Kirby to the checkers in another yawner.

Heat 4 - finish, car#, name(started) - 6 laps

1. #29, Cameron Mendes(2) 2. #29k, Keheley(1) 3. #43, Terrel(3) 4. #2L, Mike Learn(4) 5. #48k, Kirk Simpson(5) - With the exception of Mendes taking the lead in turn 1 everyone finished where they started.

A- Main - 20 cars, 25 laps - finish, car#, name,(started)

1. #3x, Geving(1) 2. #43, Terrel(4) 3. #4q, Ad. McCarthy(5) 4. #56, Arraiga(6) 5. #35, Wright, Jr. (2) 6. #29, Mendes(11) 7. #6c, Parady(12) 8. #19, Art McCarthy(7) 9. #48k, Simpson(20) 10. #2L, Learn(8) 11. #96, Backholm(9) 12. #14, Merrel(10) 13. #25b, Baxter(13) 14. #4, Foland, Jr.(17) 15. #10x, Kirby(14-DNF) 16. #3, Cornwell(16-DNF) 17. #2b, Dothage(3-DNF) 18. #57x, Pyle(19-DNF) 19. #29k, Keheley(15-DNF) 20. #7, Ringo,Jr. (18-DNF)

For the 1st time all night the car on the pole jumped out to lead as Geving outdrags Wright, Jt, to trun 1 and takes the lead. The #43 of Terrel grabs 3rd from Dothage. Next lap sees Art McCarthy turn backwards as he goes to enter 1 and backs it gingerly up to the fence for the 1st yellow. Very lucky no one else was involved. McCarthy is re-fired and tags the back. Line up is 3x,35, 2b,43,4q,56,2L,14,10x,29,96,3,6c,4,7,25b,29k,48k,57x,19 - Restart sees Terrel grab 2nd with an outside move in turn 2 around Dothage and Wright,Jr. and begin the chaes of Geving. Lap 6 yellow for Foland,Jr who stops at the pit exit before turn 1. Restart finally sees some laps clicking off as Geving approaches traffic on lap 8. Terrel tries to take advantage with a an outside move in turn 2, but geving is able to get a good bite in the middle of 2 and hold him back. Yellow on lap 10 for the #7 of ringo who stops just past the flagstand with what looks like rear end problems. He goes off on the hook. Restart on lap 9 and Dothage gets under Wright, Jr. with a low move in 2 to grab 4th on lap 11 followed by Arriaga under Wright, Jr, in turn 4 to take 5th away on the 13th circuit. Leader agains starts to hit traffic on lap 14 as Geving manuevers her sprinter around slower cars and gains a bigger advantage over Terrel maneuvering better through back markers. Lap 18 is the only red for the night as the #2b of Dothage jumps the #10x right rear trying to avoid the #4 of Foland, Jr. entering turn 1. Dothage would go off on the hook and be done for the night. Foland and Kirby would return. During the red Cornwell and Kirby exited their race cars and were automatically DQ'd from the event as rule states no driver is to exit their car during a red flag. Restart sees Geving again jump to the lead, Wright, Jr. gets by Arriage for 4th in turn 2 only to see Arriage rturn the favor in turn 4 on lap 20. The #29 of Mendes takes away postion #6 from the #6c of Parady on lap 20. terrle is now closing in on Geving and furiously trying to get by. Lap 24 and Terrel swoops around Geving high in turn 3 only to see Geving drop low in 4 and take the spot back. White flag lap sees Terrel right on Geving coming out of turn 4 and is right on her rear nerf and literally pushes her across the finish line to take the checkerd flag and her 1st win.

Hard Charger - #48k of Kirk Simpson (20th to 9th)

I apologize for the bad typing and Geving and Terrel swapped positions on lap 23, not 24.

Congratulations to Alissa Geving!

Good job Alissa!!! Actually she is only 15 years old. She isn't the first female winner at Petaluma just the youngest. I believe Cheri Arriaga was the first female to win at Petaluma Speedway. After doing some research Alissa is the youngest female to win a Sprint Car race possibly in the United States. As far as Bradly pushing Alissa through the checkered. Alissa was all fogged up and the flag man for some reason held out the checkered flag so Alissa thought she won. So she slowed down and Bradly went by her so then she realized it wasn't over so she got him back. She wasn't about to lose it on the last lap............

Thanks racer3x for the Cheri Arriaga correction. Completely forgot about her win several years back. Thanks for age correction, too. Good to hear the confirmation Alissa made sprint car history last night. The crowd sure went wild during the final laps, as the checkered flag flew, and waiting for the post race interview and photos. Usually when the checkered flag falls after the sprint main it is a mass exodus of the speedway, but alot of people stayed to cheer her win. It was nice to see the young sprint drivers out in the stands signing autographs and giving away cards for the kids before their A-Main started. Along with Alissa Geving - Bradley Terrel, Ricky Wright, Jr. and Cameron Mendes all were in the stands signing. There might have been more, but that is all I remember seeing.

Congrats to Alissa! I think BK might have brought her some good luck by wearing her shirt in Chico. Smile

Cool to hear she got a win.
