been waiting to go off on this. Pissed does not cover my feelings for the new napcar name. "Sprint NAPcar cup"

I have gained another step toward NOT supporting REAL sprint drivers who go to napcar.

The name Nascar Sprint Cup I feel disrespects everything I and many of us stand for. To prove it my boss was not happy I saw the new name and flew the remote at the TV..(it was a 1970's TV) gave them a reason for a new one.

NASCAR SPRINT CUP!? Another name they want to get from Real racing and us real race fans. Long live Dirt racing and real Sprint racing.

AMEN! I don't watch NASCRAP, but I heard the last couple laps over the weekend were pretty good. I did not hear how the other 198 laps were though. Must have been boring, high speed, follow the leader at it's best as usual. Yaawwwn! It wouldn't be NASCRAP without some "household name" driver pissing and moaning about how tight his boyfriend, err, I mean car was either.

Excuse me? Did I miss something? "Sprint" is a telecommunications company that merged with "Nextel" in 2004. Everything since that point has moved toward a rebranding using the "Sprint" name. They are not "stealing" the name from "us real race fans", although they will probably be benefiting indirectly from the use of the name.

And, no, I'm not a supporter of the Sprint/Nextel Cup series either. The part of that deal that pisses me off is their recent move to more Saturday nights. This is hurting the local dirt tracks big time!

About the only effect that I can see of the name change is furthered confusion among casual or non-racing fans concerning sprint car racing.

"NASCAR Sprint Cup" and "sprint cars" would probably seem to be very similar to those who don't know otherwise.

Commentators already refer to the truck series as the "Craftsman Trucks" and sometimes abbreviate the Busch Series cars as "Busch Cars". I'm sure eventually someone will refer to the Cup cars as the "Sprint Cars". How confusing will that be?

the casual or non racing fans think that sprint cars are dune buggies anyway. don't think that Sprint will ever let their name be confused. they always call cup cars cup cars. no matter what name is in front of it. besides if what you say is true then look forward to 100,000 fans showing up at your local track for a "sprint" race. lmfao.

if they don't know the difference, now will be the time to enlighten a few to what real racing is all about.

The fans may come by mistake, but they will come back on purpose if our promoters do their jobs well.

I was just venting on how they keep taking and taking from dirt racing and hardly give credit back.

never thought about the 'Craftsman Truck' 'Busch car' then 'Sprint car' Thats even worse.

I always thought Nascar should have just stuck with the original 'Grand National' title for it's top series and then signed with whatever corporation as a presentation sponsor - as in Nascar Grand National Series presented by Winston, or by Nextel or by whatever corporation name is next in line.

I agree... kinda like when they say on TV, " the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, presented by " Q " motor oil ". OK, they don't say motor oil, but we all know what " Q " is if we have ever watched an outlaw race. At least they should attempt to call it the " NASCAR Sprint Stock (ha ha) Car Series ". After all, they WILL all have wings next year............. LOL

Best Nascar Race I have seen so far this year was the Nextel Prelude to the Dream. When all the Cup boys were racing Late Models at Eldora.Thats what Nascar should be.

I was a diehard NASCAR fan until I went to my first World of Outlaws race. Since then I've been hooked on sprint car racing.
