I don't often try to toot my own horn but I'll make an exception today.

Today I hit the ten year mark, cancer free! Ten years, this is a big deal for me. It's not that I didn't think I would live to see this day, it just seems it's take awhile to get here

If the original diagnoses had been correct, pancreatic cancer, I more than likely would have been dead within a year or two. Which means I never would have met the people I've met through this message boards and/or other message boards.

I'm not sure why I was spared, but I'm glad I was, so I had the opportunity to meet all of you.

I've shared many great times with people I've met through here. Fun, laughter, tears, and many memories (including a few I need to be reminded of from time to time).

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving and I look forward to seeing everyone at the track next season.

Oh, and so you can laugh, I'll post a couple of pictures before for those who didn't see me in those days. First will be "Bald" CarWash, second will be "Curly" CarWash. Yes, after chemo, my hair grew back curly. Fortunately, it didn't remain that way long.

Curly CarWash from June 1997. And yes, I know I looked like a long lost Brady Bunch brother. Greg, Peter, Bobby, and CarWash?

Congrats man.

Having had the opportunity to spend a lot of time at the races with Carwash the last couple years I am really glad you beat that stuff. Lots of good times.

Now that's a THANKSGIVING! Congratulations, Mike! It's an honor to have met and known you since 2000. Especially knowing that might not have been possible but for your strength and the grace of God.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Be safe!

Congrats Mike! Very inspiring. One thing though: IF I get the big "C" I'm gonna start drinking Yaeger. That's gotta at least be part of how you've made it this far, right? :-)

Dave - you are one I'm never gonna mess with. You've tangled with two of the nastiest big "C"'s and come out on top. AWESOME! Hope to see you more in '07. You drinkin' Yaeger too? :-)

Duane - I've never met you but you are quite the inspiration yourself. Having gotten the big "C" in an - Ahem - very uncomfortable place just shows how no matter where it rears it's ugly head anybody who comes out on the winning side has every right to stand on the top of the highest mountain and DAILY toot the loudest horn they can find :-)!

Go down swinging!

Way to go Mikey!!! (Wow, I'd probably walk right by you on the street and not recognize you if you went back to the Vin Diesel/Andre Agassi/Michael Jordan look).

Mike,

Having known you for so long, I was waiting patiently waiting for you to give us an update. And this latest is very good news! You are a great race fan that gives much to racing events, drivers and teams. Anybody that knew you 30+ years ago would not be suprised to see how you are today.

Thank you for sharing this important milestone. I'll be waiting to hear the same news next year.

Is Howard still your favorite driver?
