To everyone that sits on a fence post and whines I say get off your butt and do something productive. Help someone out! Trust me, buying a guy/gal a right rear once a year, buying his pit passes, buying his fuel, buy laps during special events or buy his crew lunch if you see them at Farmer Bros. before the races. Heck offering your time for nothing more then a thank you is a pretty awesome feeling to have! If you cant do that, just offer some encouragement if that is all you can afford! You honestly cant believe the satisfaction you get from doing such a thing. I have helped out financially when I could afford to do it in the past but helping out on a crew is just as exciting as sitting in the stands if not more so! Just helping a team out by scraping the mud off of the car is a huge help to an under staffed team. Go into the pits and offer a hand to someone that needs it once a month. They may or may not take you up on the offer but maybe the next team will. Becoming friends with these people instead of insulting them with anonymous insults is not a way to even enjoy your own life!

These guys are risking their lives for their adrenaline rush and your enjoyment. I am sure they are more then capable of policing themselves! Sure, I question some peoples driving brain myself but its not my place to do anything about it! It is the drivers/car owners and/or the sanctioning bodies responsibility to take care of their own.

It is a lot easier to make friends out there if you actually let people know who you are. Trust me, 99% of the people in those pits are working their butts off (at their own expense) for nothing more then a sincere thank you at the end of the night. It is not just a few hours work for any of them out there but I would conservatively guess and average of 10-20 hours for each guy during the week leading up to the weekends event!

To call someone out without the gonads to state even who you are is quite ludicrous and insulting to say the least.

Sincerely,

Joe Godoy

AMEN JOE.

You can help a team with 10:00 dollars or a hundred and they all wil thank you and make you feel great.

The Ralphie section every now and then takes up a collection for a needy car.

And we all feel great about it.

Rob,

You know me, I am the one that put together the fund raiser a few years ago so the team owner could take his crew out to thank them for their hard work for the year. The funny part is that Damion won the race and drew his team out of the 25 that were in the hat! They got $325 or so if remember correctly. For the record, Kevin Keirce donated the largest sum! Rob you also donated quite a bit of your beer money as well! He is a stand up guy that helps support the sport as well!

Joe

PS. I am going to try to make it to Manzy if I can get the night off and I will be at both Memorial Day weekend races.

Going way back in the final days of Ascot, Verne Sweeney had a whole bunch of nickle and dime sponsors and he did pretty doggone good. It was a challenge for the announcer to get all of the names while he was qualifying. Verne didn't help the announcer much because he tended to qualify well.

I know Rob, that wasnt the intent but I had to be fair and include all of the teams that ran most of the schedule. In the long run, it was just a nice gesture made by the fans to thank the team that won for all of their hard work. Whether your team has a lot of money or not you work just as hard.

Perhaps if you try another "take the team out for dinner" fundraiser, you could do as Wags does. He at one time limited the Wags dash to contestants that had one or less main event wins.

Good idea, and the teams deserve it! We can do a "take the team out for dinner" at least twice a month can't we?

I believe however we should split it amongst all of the non-wing groups;VRA, USAC/CRA, Bandits, SCRA, etc.

Let's show these guys how much they mean to us. I'll commit to throwing in $20.00 every two weeks to get the ball rolling.....

Any questions email me at gary_costa1@yahoo.com

I bought a right rear for the #44 team last year for Saturday night at the Oval Nats. It was really appreciated by Hal and Mike. 410 Sprint Car racing is really expensive and only getting worse. Go down to the pits and help out some low budget team with a few bucks. Trust me, it will be appreciated.
