The Golden State Challenge Series point standings are updated at www.johnpadjenmotorsports.com
Brent Kaeding is the new leader heading into Tulare as expected, but it's by just 2 points over Sean Becker.
Jonathan Allard came into the Bradway Memorial 17 points out of the lead and leaves 72 out and pretty much needs to be perfect the rest of the season to get back into contention. Pretty big hit in his bid to defend the title.
Willie Croft continues to do a great job and has moved into fourth with Jason Statler rounding out the top five.
Next race is the Chris Faria Memorial this coming Saturday at the Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway.

I felt bad for Statler on the outside looking in as the C Main ended.
The guy is racing for season long points, a heat race crash, not his fault, puts him in the C, and then one spot out of a transfer, the yellow checker was thrown ending the race.
Do I think he would've got around Stephen Allard had they gone the distance? No, but I would have liked to seen him get the chance.
Still, there he was, after the races, taking time to talk to fans. One of the reasons the "Big Guy" has long been one of my favorites.

I also felt really bad for Jonathan Allard. He has become one of my favorite racers and he had a really bad night and now he is way back in points. It was nice of him to talk in front of the crowd like he did. I thought that showed lots of class also I hope he does better at Tulare next weekend.

Sounds like a bunch of people had rotten luck on Saturday. The next two weeks should be interesting.
1. Brent Kaeding 738 2. Sean Becker 736 3. Jonathan Allard 666 4. Willie Croft 644 5. Jason Statler 621 6. Ronnie Day 614 7. Brett Miller 603 8. Jon Maiwald 564 9. Jason Botsford 559 10. Brad Sweet 553
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool,
but then I'm not 16 so therefore my opinion is of no
consequence...

I usually stay out of this but you gotta admit that the fact that Jason's last name not starting with a "K" and ending with a "G" likely had a little to do with no breaks being given. Do I believe Jason could have gotten around Stephen? Absolutely. All it would have taken is for someone to point out the patch of moisture down low off of turn four and it would have been a drag race to the finish. A green - white - checkered in the C would have been a nice additional jolt of excitement that the heat races had already provided. The first heat was worth the price of admission alone. Sadly the feature was over as soon as the checkered flag fell in the dash. It was nice seeing Benson have - for the most part - a decent night. He ran a VERY smart heat race and made the dash for the first time in a while. Getting caught up with Ronnie was unfortunate but it can happen to anyone.
I really have to thank everyone who puts so much into this race - can't believe it has been twenty years. The incentives in the heat races made each one exciting. It was really nice seeing everyone again - it has been far too long - lots of smiles and I have to believe a good time was had by all. Seeing Jim Dale for the first time in a long time and his trophy girl daughter for the first time I can recall - be it ever so brief - was great. My brief encounter with Pace Truck Chuck brought the news that "Mildred" survived a broken front windshield so I was relieved to hear that news. Always nice to see Carwash and it was a shame to see him end the night getting "upside down." I hope everyone has the common decency to delete those photos :-)......see you down the road......
By the way: There's this movie - have you seen it? It's called Borat? (inside joke - at least a few people will get the humor in that preceding sentence) :-)......

C'mon Calendar Guy, there's no shame in getting upside down. As they say, if you don't get upside down once in a while, you're probably not runnin' hard enough

Hey Carwash, How have you been?I think the big guy is just fan friendly. He has always had a crowd of some of the best people in racing around his team at the races. The family, fans, crew and of course the"Big Guy" himself will always rank up there in my book! Reminds me of the old San Jose days at both tracks, just great racing and even better people with lots of emotion. GO STATLER!!!
